Having A Supportive Family Is One Of My Greatest Gifts
Briget Sarah

For as long as I can remember, I've had a supportive family. Almost every decision I make, every job I take, everything I do, my family is right behind me to support me. Not just my immediate family, but I have aunts, uncles, and cousins who are all the same as them.

Having people who are supportive of your decisions is so important because a lot of people don't have that. There are people without families, so I definitely cherish mine.

Most times, without even speaking, my family understands one another. Each individual immediate family has had their hardships, and you better believe every aunt, uncle, cousin, and grandparent is right behind that family's back, holding them up. My family is founded from love and acceptance, and I hope that lasts forever throughout the years.

We gather around once a month for birthday parties, holidays, all that good stuff. No matter how much time has gone since I've seen them, it's always right where we left off from the last time we were all together. Everyone asks about my job, my life, my friends, and my boyfriend, and they ask because they genuinely care.

I love and appreciate that so much.

Through the good and bad, we've all stayed strong and stuck by each other's side, even if the situation is something we can't understand. My family has been through hard funerals, drug addiction, losing jobs, you name it. It has never dented the way we look at one another or the way we love each other.

I know people who haven't talked to their siblings in over 25+ years. In my family, that is unimaginable. How you could let something so little get in the way of how you look at your family is beyond me. You only have one life to live, so why not fill it with as many people who love you as you can?

Growing up, I was very into musicals and singing, and every single concert, there my family was, sitting in the front row, smiling. It's the best feeling in the world having people who, no matter what you do in life, will support you. I have the world's best aunts, uncles, and cousins because they truly love me for me. They love my dramatics and my humor. Even if I'm sad, they always find a way to cheer me up.

I will forever be grateful for the family I was born into because I know, sometimes, people aren't as lucky. I love each and every one of my family members with all of my heart, and I cherish my time with them as much as I can.

To my family reading this, thank you for everything you do for me. I can never thank you enough. I love all of you so much.

College isn't easy, and I'm afraid I'm not going to make it at the rate my mental health is going.

Everyone tells you that college is hard, but they fail to explain why. Sure, classes are hard. Math sucks, and political science can be so boring. But that's not even what's killing me about college. What's killing me about college is my deterioating mental health.

As a college student, I feel as if people don't understand just how exhausted I, and fellow college students are. We have so many things going on, all the time, and sometimes it's hard to explain to people how we feel. Personally...I'm tired. I'm sad. And I'm struggling every single day with my emotions. But the thing is, it hasn't always been this way. I haven't always hated school, so why am I feeling like this now?
