To My Support System
Kira Schwartz

To My Support System,

Over the past few years, I have been dealing with many changes and challenges. I have endured some of my worst days, and survived to experience the best moments of my life. I have learned how to overcome adversity and that darkness does not last forever. Throughout all of my hardships, I know that my support system is one of the reasons that I stayed strong for so long. My family and friends stuck by my side through the darkest moments of my life, and I could never be more grateful.

Thank you for listening to me when I have a rough day and need to vent. Talking out my problems is a huge coping skill that I rely on. Sometimes, I really just need someone to listen and (somewhat) understand what I am going through.

Thank you for your patience. I’m not always the easiest to deal with. I have my mood swings, and I can be very stubborn at times. Despite it all, you grant me your time and patience, and you help me work through it.

Thank you for lifting me up. With your love and support, I was able to do things like graduate high school, go to college, and earn great grades. Sometimes, I doubt myself, but you never stop believing in me.

Thank you for always caring. Thank you for checking in on me when I endure bad days. Thank you for caring and giving me an incentive to keep fighting. Knowing that someone cares helps me want to recover and keep moving forward. Thank you for wanting the best for me and always caring about my progress and success.

Thank you for never leaving my side. I wouldn’t be where I am today without each and every one of you. Thank you for sticking by my side, even through the tough times. I am forever grateful to have such an amazing support system.

Sincerely,

Me

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.
