We have all been there: new to a big college, don't know many people, wanting to make friends, getting lost at every corner, wanting to reach out for help but not knowing exactly how.
Now a sophomore, I can say my first semesters were more difficult than they needed to be because there weren't many people willing to help, and I don't want other first-year students to experience that, so here are some ways to support our younger peers.
1. Be open Â
This means introduce yourself to these students and offer your help. Just be approachable and inviting!
2. Answer their questions Â
Allow them to ask as many questions as they want and need because the more they know, the easier it will be for them to get around campus and know what is going on.
3. Try to develop a relationship Â
Ask them questions, and try to get to know them better. This makes it easier for them to talk to you as they adjust. Also, exchange contact information so whenever they may have a question, they can come to you. A beautiful friendship can come about from just being there for someone.
Helped-people continue to help people, so be there for others, and spread the good karma!
