Super Mario is one of those game series that has a large following.
A large, demanding following.
I commend Nintendo for how they put up with all of us.
But aside from that, Super Mario Odyssey was released on the 27th last month, and already is one of the best-rated games ever, surpassing even Ocarina of Time with an average review of 98.92 according to GameRankings, which calculated the average. An extremely large number of video game review sites gave it a 10/10, and for good reason.
The game is extensive. With 999 moons (the game's replacement of stars), spaced across 17 open-world kingdoms, the game is much larger than any Mario game ever before.
The game focuses on a new character, Cappy, and the new abilities he gives you, namely, possession-no, wait, “cap”ture, sorry.
“Mario throws the hat on the frog - then Mario is the frog” -accurate summary of all of E3 2017
That’s enough about gameplay - let’s get to what everyone really cares about.
Lol.
Nintendo knows what we really want.
In addition to the blessing above, Mario’s outfit becomes extremely customizable over the course of the game, with about 42 full replacements for Mario, many of which are either direct or indirect reference to other characters or Mario appearances over the years of Nintendo.
Some are just fun.
Here’s a few examples.
Honestly, these people are underrating this game: 100/10 all the way.
Currently available for ~$60 for the Nintendo Switch, Super Mario “Odyssey” (heh) will fulfill any Mario fan’s itch.
The only problem that remains is how Nintendo will be able to top this.
