Since Halloween is in the air, I'd like to take a moment to acknowledge the super heroes in our lives. Though these super heroes lack the costumes and capes, they still manage to save the day. They are the men we look up to, the men that we challenge, and the men that have the qualities us, women, look for in our future husbands. These men are our very own fathers.

My father is my super hero. No matter the day or time, he is there for me and will do anything for me. I have been blessed with such a great role model and I could only hope my future husband is half the man my dad is. Our dads can become our best friends and that is exactly what mine is. They see the danger ahead of time, they keep you mentally sane in stressful situations, and they teach you their ways to help you succeed in life. There is so much love and support that they give us and no one can replace them.

If you are a daddy's girl, you will understand when I say you'll have more in common with him than any of your best of friends. These might be just a hand full of the things you guys do together:

1. Watching your favorite TV show/movie together

I don't know about y'all, but my dad and I cannot get enough of The Bachelor. Oddly though, he is the one who got me started on watching it and not the other way around.

2. You laugh at each other's corny jokes

My dad stays telling corny jokes, but to me, they are hilarious. He is the funniest person I know.

3. You call him when you just want to talk to someone

There have been times during college (especially finals week) when I ended up calling my dad at least once a day for a whole week to either just talk, tell him of anything stressful going on, or to get some advice.

4. He knows when you're upset and can instantly make everything better

My dad always knows when I'm upset, even when we are just talking over the phone. No matter what I'm upset about, he can always make me feel better.

5. He makes you want to be a better person

My dad is the kind of person I strive to be every day. He is so selfless and caring to everyone he meets. He is the kind of person who has everyone's best interests at heart and cares for everyone without having to think twice about it. My dad isn't just a regular dad, he's a cool dad.

In honor of Mother’s Day, I have been thinking of all the things my mom does for my family and me. Although I couldn’t write nearly all of them, here are a few things that moms do for us.

They find that shirt that’s right in front of you, but just you can’t seem to find.

10 Reasons To Thank Your Best Friend

Take the time to thank that one friend in your life you will never let go of.

Thank You on wooden blocks

1. Thank you for being the one I can always count on to be honest.

A true friend will tell you if the shirt is ugly, or at least ask to borrow it and "accidentally" burn it.

2. Thank you for accepting me for who I am.

A best friend will love you regardless of the stale french fries you left on the floor of your car, or when you had lice in 8th grade and no one wanted to talk to you.

Everybody gets sick once in a while, but getting sick while in college is the absolute worst. You're away from home and your mom who can take care of you and all you really want to do is just be in your own bed. You feel like you will have never-ending classwork to catch up on if you miss class, so you end up going sick and then it just takes longer to get better. Being sick in college is really tough and definitely not a fun experience. Here are the 15 stages that everyone ends up going through when they are sick at college.

Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!
