Freshman year was a whirlwind of exciting experiences. From the fears of classes, leaving home, and meeting new people to the fun nights spent talking with friends for hours and the amazing classes and professors, freshmen definitely matured and grew up. While it may be sad that freshman year has ended, there are still three more fantastic years, especially sophomore year. Sophomore year will be an exciting new year to make many new memories.
1. You're a year older and wiser.
The naive freshman orientation days are behind you, and you now know the ways of the world (or at least, Georgetown).
2. You can mentor the new freshmen!
Even though that was just you a year ago, you can help usher them through classes, their first fears, and communal bathrooms!
3. You may begin to learn what you want to study.
If you are undeclared, you probably took a myriad of different classes, and now you might have (or perhaps more) an idea of what you might want to study.
4. You know people now!
The anxiety over making friends is now over. You know people now, and you can return to school feeling confident.
5. Positions of power in a club!
Georgetown's social scene is dominated by clubs, and now that you're a sophomore, you might have a position of power.
6. New housing.
While you'll miss your old freshman dorm, there's a new year of new housing, which will be wonderful, and pave the way for new experiences.
7. You (might have) learned how to maneuver the campus.
Many of Georgetown's buildings can be a bit confusing and serpentine, but you probably know how to maneuver your way around!
8. Internships and the Working World!
Whether you get an internship or not, sophomore year brings you another year closer to adulthood, which is ominous but also very exciting.
There might be rumors of a sophomore slump, but it's just as exciting, if not more so, than freshman year!
