Top 5 Super Bowl Trailers

Some watch for the game, others watch for that first look at what's coming soon this movie season.

Millions of people watch the Super Bowl each year, which has made it one of the best times to advertise. Companies have paid millions of dollars just to broadcast 15 to 30 seconds of an add during the commercial breaks. It also allows millions of people to view a trailer for your upcoming movie or television show.

Seeing the new trailers for upcoming films has always been one of my favorite parts of the Super Bowl. You get to view new footage from films that have already had teaser trailers and view the first trailers for films. The following are five trailers from the last Super Bowl that either peaked my interest or have me genuinely excited.

5. "Mission Impossible: Fallout"

The "Mission Impossible" films have always been a fun bit of entertainment, even if I'm not really that into the series. They're all fun movies, but they haven't really peaked my interest from a story perspective. This one seems to be doing a lot of the same for me, but it still looks like it will be a lot of fun to watch.

I love the cinematography and I love them, mostly, practical stunt work. The fact that most of the action scenes are done practically in these films has always been what I've loved most about this franchise. The trailer also gives off a sense of "finality" so it will be interesting to see where the story will go with that concept.

4. "Skyscraper"

On the surface, this looks like any other "Die Hard" ripoff film. It looks like another thinly plotted film where Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson has to save his family from kidnappers or terrorists or whatever stock Hollywood villain type they're using. However, I would be lying if I said that Johnson's character being a physically handicapped action hero wasn't an interesting angle to go with.

Even in the trailer, we see how this character's prosthetic leg act as one more thing he has to overcome to save his family. It would be interesting to see how the film (if it does at all) incorporates this aspect into the plot and how it affects the character development. The fact that a physically disabled character is portrayed as a competent and skilled fighter is also positive in the representation department.

3. "Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom"

The original "Jurassic World" was an O.K. sequel and was a fun film, I just felt like it had some very glaring issues. The sequel actually peaked my interest due to the idea of having to save the dinosaurs from the island before a volcano erupts. I also like how the film is asking the question of whether it is a good idea to save these prehistoric beasts or not.

I'm interested in seeing what new dinosaur creatures are created and how they get all of the dinosaurs off of the island. I feel like I'm more interested in this film than the first one and that's a good sign. I just hope they pull it off and make a movie as good as the one shown in these trailers.

2. "Avengers: Infinity War"

To say I'm excited about this film would be an understatement. I was excited before the first trailer came out and became, even more, excited after it did come out. While the spot that appeared during the Super Bowl was just a short 30-second spot it still gave us a good amount of new footage.

I'm very excited to see what is suppose to be the "end game" for the original Avengers and what kind of a villain Thanos will be like on screen. I also liked seeing more footage of Captain America and Spider-Man in this T.V. spot. Here's hoping that this film will be everything we're hoping for.

1. "Solo: A Star Wars Story"

Yes, the main reason this is number one is that I am a huge "Star Wars" fan and I'm biased. However, this is also number one because this is the first time I or anyone has seen any footage from this film. The film has had a rocky production history involving its directors and seemed like a very unnecessary idea for a film.

Despite all of that, it looks like this movie is going to be a lot of fun. I love the cinematography, I like the set design, I love the creature designs, and I really like the actors involved. The film feels very unnecessary, but that doesn't mean that it can't be a fun and entertaining ride. I really hope I get a fun "Star Wars" film out of this.

10 Thoughts Of A 5th Year Senior

What about those of us who don't do it all in four years?

"College will be the best four years of your life" is a phrase that we have all heard growing up. College is painted as a magical place to us while we are in high school. A place you go to learn, meet your best friends and probably have the time of your life while all of this is going down. Four whirlwind years, where everything that you've known changes and you start to learn what it means to live on your own, have a job, etc. But what about those of us who don't do this all in four years? Major changes, hard courses, switching schools, career paths changing, these are just a handful of factors that could extend your four years to five, six or seven. There is nothing wrong with taking extra time to graduate, but returning as a fifth-year is a little different. Most of your best friends have most likely graduated and moved and while you may be one of the oldest undergraduates on campus, you might feel as awkward as a freshmen. A world that became home and comfortable to you is still there but it's slightly different than you've known it to be and you have to find a groove to fall into. These are thoughts you'll have as you look ahead to returning to your college campus, with a victory lap planned.

11 Times Aubrey Plaza Described Sophomore Year

"I don't want to do things. I want to do not things."

Aubrey Plaza is one of my favorite humans in Hollywood. She's honest, blunt, unapologetic, and hilarious. I just started my sophomore year of college, and found that some of her best moments can accurately describe the start of the school year.

1. When your advisor tells you that you should declare a major soon.

2. Seeing the lost and confused freshmen and remembering that was you a short year ago, and now being grateful you know the ins and outs of the campus.

3. Going to the involvement fair to sign up for more clubs knowing that you are already too involved.

4. When you actually do the reading required for the first class.

5. Seeing your friends for the first time since last semester.

6. When you're already drowning in homework during syllabus week.

7. Realizing you don't have the same excitement for classes as you did as a freshman.

8. Going home and seeing people from high school gets weirder the older you get.

Dear Mom,

You took care of me and my brothers our entire lives and you still continue to! I will not be able to truly grasp all of the hard work that you put into this family until I create my own one day. But, I know that there are plenty of times I forgot to give you a simple thank you or an appreciative smile. I thank you for everything that you have done for me and will continue to do for me. Here are some examples of those times where you had my back and I forgot to pat your back for saving me:

College is hard. As people ages 18-22, we’re just trying to figure out what we’re doing with our lives, our careers, our eating habits, exercise routines, sleep patterns, and other necessities for adult life. We definitely don’t take proper care of ourselves; it’s basically impossible when we have essays, tests and readings due and somehow we’re supposed to eat right, exercise and sleep. We’re doomed to get sick. I have zero experience in science but when I get sick there are certain things I do to make myself better.
