Preview:
During one of the most watched event in America, two very different teams will go up against each other on Sunday, February 2nd to see who will be crowned Super Bowl champions. The AFC champion New England Patriots, with a record of 11-5 are squaring off against the NFC champion Los Angeles Rams. Although the Rams are coming into the game with a better record of 13-3, they are still considered to be pretty big underdogs. When comparing these two teams, the first notable difference is with the quarterbacks, as veteran Tom Brady (41 years old) is no stranger to Super Bowls as this is his ninth since 2002. Jared Goff (24 years old) on the other hand is only in his third season in the NFL, as this is his first time in the big game.
Both of these teams have been carried by their strong offenses all season long, and I expect that type of offense to continue on Sunday. In addition to having excellent offenses, these two teams have the top head coaches in the league, coach Sean McVay and coach Bill Belichick always have tricks up their sleeves. Keeping this in mind leads me to believe that these factors will result in a high scoring game.
The Patriots surprised lots of doubters to begin the playoffs by pretty much steamrolling over the Los Angeles Chargers as they continued their dominance in a close overtime defeat of the Kansas City Chiefs on the road. The Rams on the other hand, bought their ticket to the super bowl thanks to, some may say, a pretty bad no-call at the end of the NFC championship to help them defeat the New Orleans Saints. Although the NFC championship resulted in people petitioning for the end of the game to be "replayed", make no mistake that this Rams team is legit and can very well end this season Super Bowl champions.
Predictions:
Even with all of the doubt surrounding Tom Brady getting too old to win championships his this year, it's pretty clear that the Patriots are the favorites to win this game. With that being said, that was the case last year when the Patriots were up against backup Quarterback Nick Foles and the Philadelphia Eagles as they lost that game 41-33 in a huge upset.
Keeping last year in mind, that doesn't stop me from predicting the Patriots to pull this off and win their 6th Super Bowl. By watching the outstanding performance of the Patriots offense during the playoffs as well as the outstanding play calling of head coach Bill Belichick, I feel as if it will all be too much for the young Rams to handle. Both of these offenses are extremely talented, which I believe will result in a high scoring game. The Rams are a very young team with an extremely bright future ahead, but this still is Tom Brady's league whether people like it or not.
Final Score Prediction:
New England Patriots beat Los Angeles Rams 37-27
