Taking Pictures Of The Sunset Isn't Basic

Looking up from time to time can teach you a thing or two.

Never let anyone make you feel bad for posting or taking a picture of a sunset.

In general, if something makes you happy, it doesn't matter what anyone thinks, or what they have to say. If you feel bad about doing something because you're worried about it being basic or weird, you will definitely not enjoy it as much as you could be enjoying it.

Basic has become a word that is generally used to call out girls for doing something typical and can end up being used to guilt someone out of doing something they enjoy, and that's screwed up. Drink that pumpkin spice latte, take that selfie, wear those shoes, and post that snapchat story, because why not?

Something shouldn't be called basic just because a lot of people like it or do it. Why attach shame to something that so many enjoy?

A sunset is a beautiful and unique thing that should be appreciated and photographed if that's what someone chooses to do, and it shouldn't instantly be deemed as basic.

We live in a constantly busy world and looking up at the sunset for even a minute to snap a picture can give you a chance to be more mindful and appreciate our natural surroundings. It is a reminder of how lucky we are to be on this Earth and it is a chance to catch your breath. Looking at nature when we are stressed or upset can be quite therapeutic.

A sunset is a piece of artwork in the sky. It can show us the beauty of a daily occurrence, one that many of us sometimes take for granted. It is one of those "little things" that are not so little. A sunset, much like flowers and friends, can remind us that things are beautiful even when we are at our lowest points. It can remind us that things are going to be okay.

So look up at that pink sunset and soak in the beauty and happiness!

And take a picture if you want to.

It's officially December. There is less than a month of 2024, and I still feel like yesterday was summer. Now comes the merriest time of the year, the Christmas season.

Everyone has been waiting for this time of year since mid-October (which is way too early, in my opinion) or before. It's a time of love, family, memory-making, and gift-giving. A lot of times when I ask friends and family what they want, I get a lot of "I don't know" or "I don't care."

mu bucket list

I was sitting at my cubicle, now that I am an adult, looking at the rain pouring down on the windowsill, bumming on life, wishing for the rain to just stop for a full day.

There are moments where we count down the hours until work is over and how many more days till the weekend, and this many weeks until something exciting. Or something like that? Well, I was bumming because my next day off from work is not until Memorial Day weekend, which is not until the end of May. And since this is my first year out of college being a “real person,” I am totally missing the winter, spring and summer breaks. I am sure all of us have felt this way even if just for a hot minute…

If you go to or went to Kent State, then more than likely you have done or will do some of these things.

1. You’ve slipped and fallen on the ice at least once.
