9 a.m. Wake up to the smell of bacon from your kitchen. Not too early to wake up, not so late that you've slept your whole day away.
10 a.m. Head to church, packed like sardines, in your mom's new car -- an upgrade from that old SUV she used to drive you around in.
Noon. Lunch time. Hurry to your family's favorite restaurant and eat fast.
1 p.m. You better hope you are home by 1 p.m. for the first football game of the day. Sit on your favorite chair with your computer on your lap while you try and do homework and watch the game at the same time.
3 p.m. Wake up from that nap that you accidentally took in your favorite chair, when your family screams, "Touchdown Panthers," and watch more football.
5 p.m. Play an intense pick up game of football with your little brother who always wins no matter what the score.
6 p.m. Eat the best leftovers your mouth has ever tasted.
6:30 p.m. Pack up all the nice clothes that you didn't wear while you were home, the comfy clothes you lived in over the weekend, and the bags full of laundry that finally got done.
7 p.m. Give lots of hugs and kisses and solemnly head back to school.
All of this sounds like a pretty typical, boring day, but there is something so special about a Sunday spent at home. Between the church services attended and the ballgames watched, lies the comfort of home. It is the sound of your mom's voice as she sings beside you at church. It is the feeling of your dad's hand on your shoulder while he gently shakes you to wake you up in the morning. It is the smell of that chair that makes you want to stay in that one spot forever. It is the happiness in your brother's voice when he scores the winning touchdown that he threw to himself.
The hustle and bustle of college life can make us forget how great it is to slow down and enjoy what is happening around us. While at school, Sundays are a day of schoolwork where the games are on mute and you have constant alarms set to keep you from dozing off. At school, Sundays are a day spent regretting all the work you didn't do Friday or Saturday. At school, Sundays are a dreaded day that should really be called Monday eve.
But at home, Sundays are glorious. They are for relaxing, fun and for cherishing every single moment you have with your family that is uniquely yours and the best group of people you have ever known.
Tears always fill my eyes as I pack my car to go back to school on Sunday evenings because each Sunday at home feels like the best day of my life.
