I Want To Feel Like Your Sunday's

I want to be the reason you feel okay before the real.

I Want To Feel Like Your Sunday's

Sunday morning’s are the best thing on the planet before the Monday scares set in. Sunday’s are for that relaxing day on your couch, for snuggling up next to the person you love, and enjoying a freshly brewed coffee from your own kreuig. Sunday’s are for home and for relaxing and for making sure you are ready for that week.

I want to be your everyday, but I love just being your Sunday’s. As I sit here, right next to you on a Sunday all I can think about is how I want to be your everyday. I want to make your infectious smile stay on your face for the days we have to spend apart and I want that laugh to always be laughing with me (or at me because why the hell not). I want Sunday’s to turn into Monday’s and when your eyes are hanging low in the middle of the week I want to be the reason you still make it to work.

I want to be your motivation. I want you to believe that with me by your side there’s nothing you can’t do. I want to be your support and your push and the reality check you need when you need to be brought down to earth. I want to be your shoulder to cry on and the one you find comfort in. I want to be the person you call when you just need to vent and more importantly I want to be your Sunday, the comforting, fun loving Sunday, the calm before the real.

I want you to find home in my heart and I want you to feel home in a person rather than a place. I want to be that person for you always because I found it in you. I want to wiggle my toes under you and watch football for days just to see you in your element. I would give up anything keep you in your happy place, in our Sunday’s.

I want to be the deep breath you take before you go to bed to relax and more importantly I want to be the reason you feel like you’re at peace. I want to be reason you feel rested for your week and I want to make sure you’re ready to take on whatever is next for you. I still want to be the feet-back-deep-breath-beer-in-hand type of relaxing that you can only get on Sunday. I want to be that feeling you get when you can finally get a load off because even the weekends are busy. When Friday’s are anxious, and Saturday’s are for errands, I want to be the calm that Sunday is.

I want to be your Sunday morning, the afternoon, and even the night.

I want to be the I’m looking forward to just sitting there being in the moment with someone. I want to be that moment for you. I want to be the relaxing in the morning, the fun in the afternoon, and the scaries at night because not everything is perfect, but Sunday’s can most definitely be.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies.
