Sun's-Out Style Guides for a Summer in the Sunshine State

Whether you're hitting the beach to relax or hitting the town, at some point before you go, you'll be taking a look at yourself in the mirror and wondering what to wear. Regardless of the season, wonder no more—this style guide for the top trends to embrace while you're in the Sunshine State can help you out.

Of course, clothes aren't the only element of your aesthetic that you'll want to consider. Daily hygiene is a must, including what scents you spray on you and how confidently you meet the day. Go to the hairdresser or barber and schedule an appointment at the dentist; Boca Raton, Naples, and Orlando are all great places to show off your style and vibe.

Neon accessories

From bags and footwear to sunglasses and jewelry, this summer, brighter is better. Wearing garments in more neutral shades and incorporating a few vibrant pieces into the mix will help energize your outfit. Try to keep the accent pieces similar or in the same color family.

Yellow

Nothing says "Sunshine State" like this summer's fashion trend: Embracing significant amounts of yellow. This bright and sunny style may feel challenging to pull off, but virtually everyone can wear yellow if you wear it right. For the ladies, sleek skirts, yellow accessories, or yellow stripes are easier ways to wear the trend. Guys should stick to yellows as secondary outfit colors or accessories.

Florals

Florals are back and bigger than ever. Large-scale bloom prints, bright and punchy hues, and bolder palettes boost even passerbyers' moods. The go-to print for the summer season, try floral patterns on dresses, blouses, skirts, bathing suits, ties, crew necks, shoes, and any other way you care to feel daring.

V-necks

This classic style turned high-fashion favorite, the v-neck has a variety of advantages over a traditional crew neck shirt. Basic v-neck shirts are around to stay, offering sensual skin exposure and accentuating your frame regardless of your gender.

Bare legs and arms

Shorts sitting just above the knee are not a new style for men, but they are going even shorter this year. Shop shorts that are both functional and flattering, stopping at about mid-thigh. Shorter inseams are sporty, practical, and athletic. And for your upper body, celebrities and icons are rocking the sleeveless look more than ever, which is both comfortable and fashionable for Florida weather.

Prints

Summer stripes, checks, tie-dye, and other prints will be a massive part of this summer's fashion. Prints are a fun way to elevate your look and make you stand out from the crowd. Strut your stuff while embracing these trendy and stylish colors and patterns.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."

It’s here; that time of year when college students turn into preschoolers again. We cry for our mothers, eat everything in sight, and whine when we don’t get our way.
