4 Goals To Achieve This Summer

As summer is quickly approaching, I started to think of what I wanted to achieve during this period of time. I know that I am working a lot and will be taking summer courses, but I wanted to set other personal goals to be able to achieve, hopefully. You can accomplish anything that you set your mind to. Here are four goals I have for this summer:

1. Play outdoors more.

I know that this seems kind of childish, but I want to become more active and spend more time outdoors. Despite the crazy heat, I want to be able to experience nature more whether that's going to a park to jog or just reading a book outside.

2. Go to the gym more.

The past couple of months, I got a gym membership and started to go to the gym regularly. During the summer I want to focus on going to the gym regularly and becoming more fit and in shape.

3. Reading for fun.

During the school year, I feel like I constantly have to read required materials. During the summer, I want to be able to read for fun and choose what I want to read.

4. Spend more time with loved ones.

I want to spend more time with my family, friends, and boyfriend. I think that time is valuable and I want to share/make many more memories with all of my loved ones.

These are just a few of my summer goals, but there are plenty of things that I want to do over the summer. Mainly, I want to experience new things and focus on the things that matter the most. I know that I can accomplish this with a positive mindset! Have a great summer!!

Well all those fundraisers and marketing should would be a waste then wouldn't they?

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

Daydreaming

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.
