I typically like to share things with you all based on what I am experiencing at a particular time in my life. Sharing genuine thoughts, concerns, and ideas so that you as readers can connect with me on an interpersonal level! Many of us often leave school for the summer and do not have a plan on what to do and that alone can drive you nuts! Below I have listed four tips on things to do during the summer time.

1. Get fit

It is so easy to be lazy during the summer, you are just tired and want to relax every chance you get but do not let this urge hinder you from getting fit and staying healthy. As a college student it can be hard finding the time to go to class, meetings, study groups, and extra curricular activities all while trying to make it to a gym at the end of your day. The summer time is a break, but it is also that time we need to become healthier beings. Get in a routine of waking up and partaking in some type of physical exercise, you will feel great!$

2. Get involved

Lending a helping hand when you have free time is always an excellent task! Getting involved in the community not only helps others, but you can benefit from this as well. For me personally , I take pride in helping others and by seeing the difference I make in someones life brings so much joy and satisfaction to my heart. Also, when applying for different jobs, internships, or group organizations community service is always a great thing to put on a resume.

3. Never stop learning

The mind is a horrible thing to waste. You can never stop learning or seeking knowledge. The summer break is a time to relax but also gain even more knowledge than you did during the school year. All knowledge does not have to be within the textbooks, gaining self knowledge is just as important. Self knowledge is getting to know yourself in all possible ways. During the school year we are so consumed with deadlines, meeting requirements, and maintaining a certain GPA that we lose who really are and find ourselves just being scholarly robots. Take a deep breathe, get in tuned with your spiritual, mental, physical and nevertheless improving your intellect. The summer is all yours!

4. Consider your aspirations

During the school year we all have things we want to achieve , goals we want to meet , and expectations we want to exceed. Have you ever thought about creating an aspiration board or anything that will keep you on track with your goals for the summer? Well, recently I created an aspirations board. In the middle I have my goals and on the sides I have my inspirations and scriptures that will help me and guide me while achieving all the goals I have set for myself.

It is important to do this during the summer because you are at a different space and you are able to think more clearly and view things in a different way. Making such a board during the summer will account as your check list on things you want to do and accomplish as well as the necessary steps to make it there. This can indeed carry on into the school year, expanding on what you have already attributed to the board during the summer! Don't give up, you are more than capable!

In honor of Mother’s Day, I have been thinking of all the things my mom does for my family and me. Although I couldn’t write nearly all of them, here are a few things that moms do for us.

They find that shirt that’s right in front of you, but just you can’t seem to find.

Thank You on wooden blocks

1. Thank you for being the one I can always count on to be honest.

A true friend will tell you if the shirt is ugly, or at least ask to borrow it and "accidentally" burn it.

2. Thank you for accepting me for who I am.

A best friend will love you regardless of the stale french fries you left on the floor of your car, or when you had lice in 8th grade and no one wanted to talk to you.

Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!
