There's been a long debate, with many opinions, as to what the overall best season is. Yes, every season has its perks, but I am a firm believer that summer is the best one of all.
Personally, I cannot stand being cold, granted I can't stand being overly warm either, but I'd rather go outside and it be 80 degrees rather than eight degrees. The most common argument for why winter is better is "You can put on as many layers as you want, but you can only take so much off." They're forgetting that summer has more ways to cool down than winter has to warm up.
I'm also greatly biased because I've always had fond memories of summer vacations as a kid throughout school. Did my family ever go anywhere? No, but it was nice to not be in school. I feel that summer sparks a certain adventurousness inside us that is often suppressed in the cooler months. You don't see many people out and about and making travel plans in the winter, people usually save their vacations for when it's warmer. In the summer people can go to amusement parks, the beach, pools, cookouts, and a wide variety of other events that wouldn't be possible in the winter. As fun as cookouts are, I'm not going to stand ankle deep in snow for a couple grilled hot dogs. Summers bring back memories of campfires and festivals. in the winter many people are plagued by seasonal affective disorder, something much rarer in summer. Summer is a time for charity car washes and community events that bring people together.
Winter makes people isolated because there's nothing that they can do outdoors in order to maintain a decent body temperature. In the summer you'll see hundred of people flock to a swimming pool, some of my best childhood memories were created in public swimming pools; however, in the winter, you never see hundred of people flocked around a fire to keep warm. Come to think about it, the vast majority of charity events that happen, happen in the summer.
Summer has always reminded me of a time when people came together and became so full of life. I've always dreaded winter because I don't like isolation, I don't like constantly gray skies, and I absolutely despise the cold. I always considered just moving to Florida or somewhere that's eternally warm. Maybe I'll look more into that.
