To all the future college students:
If you think that summer vacation is just gonna be all fun, that can't be any further from the truth.
Most freshman college students assume that summer will be nothing but relaxing and laying in bed all day, or just laying at the beach all day. You can do that, however, I would recommend that you work.
Myself, all summer I am working. From taking summer classes to get ahead (trust me, you should do this), and working my job I work all year, I'm busy.
I'm taking nine credits, or three classes this summer, two credits online (one is an 11-week course, and the other one is a six-week one), and one is a six-week course in class. I spend roughly three days working on college homework and taking classes.
I'm also working roughly 20 hours a week, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. I recommend working during the summer, even if you do all through the year, because you want to have extra money during the year.
So if you expect to spend all summer relaxing, think again. You will be working all summer.
If you are not working all summer, you should be. It helps build up your résumé, which is critical to any job in "the real world." To show that you work during the summer, and have experience.
If you live near an ocean, or in an ocean town, like Plymouth, MA or Cape Cod, you may have trouble finding a job, but just about every chain store, or grocery store, is almost always looking for temp employees, such as Staples, or Stop & Shop.
I'm going on vacation for a week, just because I need a break, work can be a lot. You need to make time for you to have some sort of break, so that you can remain sane from working a lot, which is I can tell you is crutical.
