Summer Told By 'High School Musical'

The only thing going through any students mind right now is summer. All we ever really look forward to during the spring semester, or any day after January 1, is summer vacation. Summer is probably the best time of the year because, 1) we don't have homework, schoolwork or class, 2) the sun is out and the weather is significantly better, and 3) we can guilt-free binge watch Netflix. So why not explain the iconic season with some of the most iconic movies. This is summer told by one of the greatest trilogies Disney has created: "High School Musical."

1. When you finally finish your last exam and the school year is officially over

2. Getting home and realizing you have zero responsibilities until the fall

3. When you climb into bed and put on Netflix without feeling guilty of not doing your homework or studying

4. But after several hours you start questioning if you should be outside doing something productive

5. When you finally go outside into your town and you see someone you really didn't want to see

6. But then luckily running into someone you did want to see

7. When everyone in your family is home and decide to make every ounce of noise while you're still trying to sleep

8. When they all decide to leave and you're finally home alone

9. The day you finally realize you should be outside and you go out into the sun

10. And it's actually gorgeous outside so you call up your friends to lay out in the sun

11. While being outside you see all the disgusting summer bugs that look scarier than last summer

12. After getting completely grossed out you and your friends head to the mall and spend whatever money you have on clothes

13. Then, after socializing for a couple of days you reward yourself by reuniting with your bed

14. When you wake up to the beautiful sunburn you never missed during the cold months

15. When your mom asks you to do chores while shes at work but you don't want to

16. And then she tells your dad you didn't do them

17. Experiencing that first summer thunder and lightning storm...

18. Then the day comes of the first "Back to School" commercial and all you hoped was that summer would never end

19. And everywhere you go, all you see is "Back to School"

20. The only good part is hearing your mom say "Do you need new clothes for the new school year?"

21. When it's officially that time where you have to break up with your bed and return to school

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies.
