Summer Time Is Your Time!

Don't let the Heat beat You

Summer Time Is Your Time!
Padi

School is over and now it is time for real fun! Summer is here and there are plenty of things to do so do not let this time pass you by. When the sun wakes up, get up and greet it with these few ways to get out and get moving. Boredom should never set in when the sun is smiling!

The Circus

The circus is a great way to bring out your inner child. Go and watch, laugh and enjoy! There is no rush to get to sleep for school the next day so you can relax and soak it all in!

Summer Concert Series

In most major cities, there are bound to be artist passing through to promote a new album, or possibly ding a throwback tour. Look it up on local town calendars and you'd be surprised at how much of your favorite music you may have almost missed! For my fellow Buffalonians, do not forget about the Canal Side concerts; I hope to see you there!

Beaches

You look back at pictures of last summer and you look in the mirror and think, oh geez! My color! It happens to everyone. White, Black, light, and dark, every winter a little color gets drained from the body. Use this summer sun to have fun and get a beautiful new sun-kissed glow and ride the waves! For those who do not tan and immediately burn, I'm sorry! Stock up on SPF and hope for the best.

Water Wars

Okay, I know, it is HOT! In the summer, depending on where you live, it can get up to triple-digit degrees! This solution is my personal favorite. HAVE A WATER WAR! The more people you have, the more fun it is. This brings me back to my childhood because I come from a big family. With all the cousins I have, getting together enough to have a war was never a problem. It welcomes family bonding, and cools you down at the same time!

Cook Outs

\

Speaking of family bonding, why not make a few phone calls and bring out the grill? Food is always something to be happy about. This gives time for everyone to catch up, games to be played, and maybe even a pool to be filled!

Bike Riding

They say you never forget how to ride a bike. Well, let your muscle memory work for you and gather a group of friends and take an adventure. Biking is great because you get to sight see, and you get a constant breeze. Not to mention, it is actually healthy for you! Exercise that is fun? Sign me up!

Travel

Who doesn't get excited when they hear the words "road trip"? Gather two or three friends and pack the car and head where ever your hearts desire. Make it a chain road trip, and take three cars of friends and family and head to a random destination. As long as there is money for tolls, gas in the tank, and snacks, what can stop you? Make summer memories last, and do not waste this wonderful time of your life. Young, old, or middle-aged, it doesn't matter! Everyone deserves some fun! So dial up the shenanigans and laugh it up! IT IS SUMMER!

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
