When most people think of summer music, they think of country music. Although I personally am not denying country music is good, I think a non-country summer playlist is necessary. Honestly, how long can you stand to listen to a country artist sing about his boat, spouse or dog? So here it is, a playlist purposely excluding our friends Brad, Tim and Kenny.

1. "One Dance" by Drake

Drake is back in action with a new album “Views” this year, but many overlook the album because “One Dance” is arguably his most popular release. A mix of R&B and Afrobeat gives this tune a great style perfect for that summer night spent with friends.

2. "Waves" by Kanye West

Kanye, you either love him or hate him. Regardless of how you feel about Kanye, you can't deny that his music is good. “Waves” features Chris Brown (another love or hate artist), making for a great combo of vocals. The single also has catchy lyrics that are often times seen on Instagram captions and other social media platforms.

3. "My Boo (Hitman’s Club Remix)" by Ghost Town DJs

Although this song can be regarded as an “oldie” (1996), it has recently became popular because University of Maryland basketball players have created some moves to the Ghost Down Djs song. The routine consists of the "Running Man" dance, or more simply a shuffle and has not only spread throughout the basketball world, but also to the general public.

4. "Middle" by DJ Snake, Bipolar Sunshine

I was never really a huge fan of the “electropop / EDM” genre, but this song seriously made me do a 360. DJ Snake is known for his dance style of music and this song will make you want to get on your feet.

5. "Show Me Love" by Sam Feldt

If you're looking for a song to sing in the shower or while you're driving on the freeway, then look no further. “Show Me Love” is what I consider a “singing song." Sam Feldt can sing higher than I can (which isn’t saying much).

6. "CAN'T STOP THE FEELING!" by Justin Timberlake

I'm trying to stray away from music on the radio, but this song is too catchy not to put on this playlist. Justin Timberlake knows how to get the party started with his music, and this single boasts a fast beat and of course a range of pitch that is not unusual when coming from Mr. Timberlake.

7. "Cheap Thrills" by Sia

Known for hiding her face and creating somewhat confusing music videos, Sia sure has a knack for creating hits. “Cheap Thrills” is her most popular hit as of right now and shows no signs of slowing down. Looking for a song to drown out all other noises or to sing in the shower? Sia is your girl.

8. "Don't Let Me Down" by The Chainsmokers

Yet another song I believe needs to be sung at the top of your lungs. The Chainsmokers have many great hits that feature a change of pace, making you also want to dance. Perfect for a night out, or in my opinion, a car ride by yourself.

9. "Summer Sixteen" by Drake

I mean, how could I not put this song on? The title says it all.

10. "Work From Home" by Fifth Harmony, Ty Dolla $ign

Fifth Harmony is that girl group you hate to love, but the mix of vocals Fifth Harmony possesses creates a different dynamic than the average band. Add in Ty Dolla $ign and you have a variation of singing and rapping making this hit not only fun to sing to, but also to “dab” to. (Do people still do that?)

Most of you are going to read through this, hopefully like the songs I’ve chosen, but then unfortunately never make the playlist because that is simply too much work. Fear not millennials, for I have fixed your first world problem. I am linking the playlist here, where these songs and more will be featured. Enjoy and happy summer!

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
