Summer May Be Close, But The Future Is Closer

I can write about this all the time because every day is a different day and every day you continue to strive for the goals you want to accomplish in the future. My future means a lot to me now that I have finished my freshman year of college. It is important now because the future is so much closer than it appears and will determine my next chapter in my life and also because my goals can and will make a difference in the world. My future also means I must make money so I can have a happy life providing for my family.

As my freshman year comes to an end and I start looking for summer courses to take, I've taken a look back and realized how far I've come. My decision to come back home and do my two years here at County College was not easy, but it was worth it. My goal is to become a lawyer; a successful one as well. I took two Criminal Justice classes and passed them both. Worked hard no matter how hard it was. To move on to the next level in my studies, I have to keep going and learning about the laws of the world, taking notes and everyday life to use that in my strategy in succeeding with getting my client out of trouble.

No matter how hard it gets, never give up on school. People always remind the college kids how it is easier to stay in school than drop out one day then try and go back. With that in my for my next chapter of my life, I must continue to go to college to become a lawyer. I said before and I’ll say it again, I want to be a lawyer because I want to challenge other people into reasons why I am right and why I strongly believe my clients should be set free and not be locked up in jail. That is where my future determines how I can be successful throughout my career choose. Everyone should be treated the same and have equal rights no matter the race or gender. I can be the one who makes that change if no one else steps up and makes it.

The final message is about, making good money for my family. In order to make a good living for your family. You must finish college and have a good job to be able to support them with a good home to sleep in and good education for themselves. Without all that you will be struggling for managing them getting them on the right path and keeping yourself up to date with it all. My future will help my kids move on to their future and help them be successful for their family and next generation. That is the third reason I can make a difference.

My future means a lot and is very important to my family and I. Those three reasons are something to keep you focused on the prize. Keeping God and having him be the head of your life will always get you where you need to go. So as the summer starts and everyone is having fun and you are working. Remember too much fun can cause you to have different views and no go back to school or even go if you are just getting out of high school. Remember the job you have now, is that really what you want to do a full-time job without an education. That is why I believe my future is bright because I have too much to gain and I will keep working hard until I can say I made it!

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs.
