Charleston, SC is a beautiful city to visit year-round, but summer is the best season to visit. With the numerous festivals and events the city has to offer, it has something to offer for the entire family. Here are just a few of the unique events that Charleston hosts to both tourists and locals.

1. Party in the Park

Party in the Park is a free country music concert that is held every Tuesday at 6 pm in the month of June. It is located in Mount Pleasant at the Memorial Waterfront Park whether it rains or shines. It is a great place to hang out with friends and try food and drinks from local vendors. It hosts a wide range of country artists from Kelsea Ballerini, Love and Theft, and many more.

2. Movie Nights on Folly Beach

Every Wednesday night starting in May and ending in September, Folly Beach's very own Tides Hotel holds movie nights on the beach. The hotel puts up an inflatable screen on the beach at no cost for everyone. Movies usually begin at 8 pm and include every genre of movie so there will surely be one that everyone will enjoy.

3. Shaggin' on the Cooper

Shaggin' on the Cooper is an event where people of all ages can buy tickets to shag under the Cooper River Bridge. It takes place on the Mount Pleasant pier and includes live music from local bands, food and drinks. Both families, couples, and friends crowd the pier for a carefree night of dancing.

4. Second Sunday

Second Sunday may happen the second Sunday of every month, but it is definitely the best in the summer. This day of every month, King Street is closed off so people can walk in the streets and walk their dogs. Local restaurants set up tables outside and downtown boutiques set up shop outside so people can casually browse and snack. It is better during the summer because the warm weather brings crowds of people and dogs that show how welcoming the city of Charleston is.

5. Paddle Boarding in Shem Creek

Shem Creek is lined with restaurants that have seafood cuisine that is loved by locals. Here people can drive their boats up to the restaurants and even kayak or paddle board down the creek. This casual atmosphere is the perfect place to experience paddle boarding in the lowcountry.

These are just a few of the many events and activities that the city has to offer. These few are great for the entire family or even just date nights. If you're a tourist or even a local everyone should experience all of these events because they are just a few things that make Charleston summers memorable.

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!
