I'm Working 3 Jobs And 50-Plus Hours A Week This Summer And TBH? I'm Hyped

This is the summer of working hard and making money. And any free time I have will be spent sleeping and hanging with my friends and family. I am working three jobs: a retail position, as a writing and editing intern, and a babysitter. I will be working every day for a total of 53-58 hours a week.

Thankfully, my schedule allows me to have these jobs without having a day off because, on my days off, I will be working on my internship. I will be using all free time to the best of my ability, but I still need to maintain a social life with my friends. So, yes, sometimes I won't get all of my work done for my internship each week, but then on my next day off, I will be twice as productive. If I need to stay up late a couple of nights a week to catch up on work, that's completely fine. Or when I'm on my week-long vacation, I will be bringing my laptop and notes in order to stay on top of my internship responsibilities.

Even though I'm working for the majority of my summer, I'm excited to work on these new experiences. I'm super pumped to babysit a seven-month-old baby and work with a company as an important intern. I had a call with my internship boss the other week and he mentioned all of these awesome things I'm going to be doing: taking a digital marketing course to better my knowledge for this position and a potential career, writing press releases for a published author and getting them published on reputable news sites, creating social media and blog posts, and so much more. I want to create my own blog this summer too because I think that's a great resource to have before I enter the workforce.

Since it is summer and I don't have to worry about classes, homework, and tests, I have a whole list of things I want to do this summer. A good portion of the list are movies and TV shows I want to watch, books I want to read, and things I want to do. Having a few summer jobs can limit how much time I have to do those things, but since I want to do, watch, and read all of these things, I will make the time for them. I haven't had time to read books in months, and I will be doing everything I can to read a handful of books.

I have so much going on this summer but it's all new and exciting. I will be bettering my life with my accomplishments and success in my jobs and the things I do in my free time. I am a very ambitious person and this summer is just going to further that and push me further. It's only been a couple of weeks, but I already have a feeling that this is going to be one of the best summers of my life. I have a lot of goals I want to complete and things I want to do, and I will be doing as many of them as I can with these three months!

It's officially December. There is less than a month of 2024, and I still feel like yesterday was summer. Now comes the merriest time of the year, the Christmas season.

Everyone has been waiting for this time of year since mid-October (which is way too early, in my opinion) or before. It's a time of love, family, memory-making, and gift-giving. A lot of times when I ask friends and family what they want, I get a lot of "I don't know" or "I don't care."

I was sitting at my cubicle, now that I am an adult, looking at the rain pouring down on the windowsill, bumming on life, wishing for the rain to just stop for a full day.

There are moments where we count down the hours until work is over and how many more days till the weekend, and this many weeks until something exciting. Or something like that? Well, I was bumming because my next day off from work is not until Memorial Day weekend, which is not until the end of May. And since this is my first year out of college being a “real person,” I am totally missing the winter, spring and summer breaks. I am sure all of us have felt this way even if just for a hot minute…

Great Value Colleges

If you go to or went to Kent State, then more than likely you have done or will do some of these things.

1. You’ve slipped and fallen on the ice at least once.

The winters at Kent are brutal, and while the heated sidewalks and some great snow boots are always a help, there’s no chance you won’t bust it on the ice at least once in your four plus years at school.
