It's spring time and you know what that means…. Warmer weather, bathing suits are launching in clothing stores, and most importantly…. the diet crazies are vomiting out new diets of summer 2019 and everyone is freaking out about the need to have a "beach body."
What is a "beach body" you ask? Well according to urban dictionary, it's a body that is perfect enough to show off in a swimsuit or bikini. A perfect body in society today is skinny and muscular (but not too muscular; God forbid!) and doesn't have any blemishes. So basically most if not all, fail to meet those criteria so we live in a society where we will never be like Barbie and Ken (*gasp!*).
So how do we everget a beach body if we have imperfections and are all created differently?! Well… it's easy. You go to the beach, wear whatever the heck ya want, and you flaunt it because you don't need to look a certain way to go to the beach because there are no rules or regulations besides no smoking, drinking or swimming without a lifeguard. Stop giving into those fad diets because I hate to break it to you…. THEY DON'T WORK!
This all sounds so simple to believe yet so hard… I fought long and hard trying to meet societies expectations and it only led me to hating myself and missing out on fun experiences with friends and family because I needed to follow my meal plan or go to the gym. So yes, it's hard to believe that you already have a beach body… yes, YOU!
Because all bodies are beach bodies and if anyway tells you otherwise than they are lying, or they are just mad that they can't sell you their weight loss shake or supplement or fitness program or other crazy diet, because it's all fake and a scam. But they are the ones that have to put their head on the pillow at night for selling these harmful products that make you stay on the toilet all day that you can't even go to the beach!
So keep being you and save your money on fun things instead like ice cream and sprinkles and crazy road trips with friends!
My one request of you this season is to love who are you and don't ever try to change because of societies unrealistic expectations. You are good enough and beautiful enough and being skinny and having a beach body isn't going to make your life better; I promise.
