A week ago marked the official start of summer. That means wardrobe change time! Put away those umbrellas, and take out the sunscreen. Since spring has passed, it's time to talk about some things every guy should have, when taking on the summer months. Women "must-have" lists are much easier to come by, os here's one for men:

1. "Dad Hat"

Snapbacks and fitted caps are, or at least should be, over. Whether you want to call it picante hat, strap back, dad hat or sports cap, you need at least one that you can pull out on sunny summer days. You can get basic colors and some even have small designs. You can't go wrong, no matter which you choose.

2. Chapstick

Chapstick is important all year round but is especially crucial in the summer because of the how weather. I would recommend finding a brand that doesn't dry up and chap your lips. For some it's Eos, for others it's Burt's Bees. But you can never go wrong with a small Vaseline like gel.

3. Lotion

The sun will dry up your skin. People think they'll need sun tan lotion for being out in the sun but it's also necessary to keep your skin nourished even if you're just going out for a quick run or a short stroll. Ashy skin makes you ugly remember that. So if you carry around a book bag or any sort of small bag make sure you have a small bottle of lotion be sure to know what does and doesn't irritate your skin.

4. No Show Socks

Sometimes socks don't look right with a show and instead of wearing no socks which would end up making your feet smell. Some genius cut his socks so short that they weren't seen.

5. Vans/Converse

Everyone needs a pair of either vans or converse. They're an easy sneaker to wear and are lightweight. For the days you go the beach or a pool stay away from sandals after. You're feet will get dirty quickly. They can be your everyday sneaker for if you just need a quick something to put on. They're great for family BBQs and picnics, because they always involve dirt and you won't mind getting a pair of these dirty since they're only about $45. SCORE!

6. Stan Smith Adidas

When you need a sneaker for your everyday routine that's a little nicer and you can wear to a dinner date, brunch or just a part of your casual Friday at work. Unlike vans or converse where you have a variety of colors to choose from, the main colors are black and white with the white having either navy or green accents. These just for lack of a better term look cool. You don't want to wear these out too fast. That's why you have your converse/vans that look better with age...These not so much.

7. Swimming Trunks

DO NOT WEAR SPEEDOS. Whoever invented those needs to be punished. Speedos ruined family vacations to Florida because now all you see is foreigners with heir overly hair bodies in speedos. Swimming trunks are very necessary in the summer even if you don't normally go to the beach or pool because who knows maybe you will this year. Some of them don't have the extra net that allows you to not wear underwear so they can just be worn as shorts.

Since its the time of the year where everyone goes shopping for future vacations. Might as well get these as well. Unless you're going to Australia because...well, it's a whole different season.

To The Cheerful Person On Their Rainy Days, You Are Valid

The world is not always sunshine and rainbows, and you do not have to be, either.

Ask friends of mine to name a quality about me, and one a lot them will point out the fact that I am almost always smiling. I like to laugh and smile -- not to quote Buddy the Elf in April, but smiling is my favorite! It is probably my favorite go-to expression. However, what a lot of people do not see is that I have my down days. I have days when smiling and laughing is a real struggle, or when I have so much on my plate that going out of my way to behappy takes more effort than I have stored in me. Be it a symptom of college and growing up or a facet of life, I cannot always be content.

Amidst my hectic college career, I always find time for one thing, even on the busiest weeks: Parks and Recreation. This show has made me laugh and has made me cry, but most of all I have related to this show more than I would like to admit.

April Ludgate from Parks and Recreation is notorious for her "I don't care" attitude. She speaks her mind without caring what anyone thinks of her. Fans love her because she isn't afraid to be herself. April can seem cold and negative, but she's really just fearless and strong-minded. And despite her sometimes harsh words, April truly cares about the people she's closest to. These are all reasons she is the epitome of a college student. April complains whenever she has to do any kind of work, but ends up doing the work anyway. April Ludgate is the ultimate college student spirit animal.

Life is full of twists and turns, but you have to keep going.

Life is all about twist and turns, sideways and which ways. Nothing is permanent, so we should take risks, and chase our dreams. We are taught at a young age many lessons that will follow us into adulthood. What we aren't taught is how to feel, and how we handle those emotions. We just have to figure them out ourselves, and that's not fun. In my 21 years of living, I have come to know that way too many people can't handle emotions, or the fact that not everyone is dead inside like them. When you're like me, and you have zero control over your emotions, it's hard to feel comfortable around people who aren't so in touch with themselves. As much as I would like to feel nothing at times, I've accepted who I am and the fact that I can cry over practically nothing. So, there are some things in life that you just have to do.
