1. RELAX

The thought of sitting on the couch and watching T.V makes me so happy. As a college student I know many people emphasize the importance of working during the break. Which is true. However after 9 months in school, constant studying, and all-nighters, what's wrong with relaxing? I feel in order for me to give my best effort towards my internship I need my time to kick my feet up and relax!

2. GO TO SIX FLAGS & THE BEACH

During the school year, I couldn't wait for the weather to warm up so I can go to six flags and the beach. Six flags allow me to escape from adulating for just a little. I've been out of school little over a week so I haven't been to these places yet. But when I do, I can’t wait to eat funnel cake, Thrasher’s french fries, and mango water ice!

3. WORK

Hey you knew work would come on this list sooner or later. For most of us, college isn't free. But considering I’m not taking any summer courses its best to stack up now. I am grateful to have received an internship at a Law Firm so I hope I will be able to apply the new competencies during the fall semester.

4. WORK Part 2

Trust and believe I am an advocate of having a healthy work/life balance. However, this summer I want to find or enhance my talents. Therefore when I’m not working I should be learning new ways to develop my writing skills, broadcast my creativity, and turn my strengths into opportunities.

5. LEARN MORE ABOUT MYSELF

This past semester I took a class called Contemporary Organizational Behavior. This class concentrated on the study of people and what people THINK, FEEL, and DO within an organization. Although the class centered these qualities within a company I was able to identify individual characteristics I have, that I may not acknowledge. My goal is to learn more about myself through books, taking risks, and doing more activities independently.I hope everyone reading this feels inspired to create a list of goals for the summer.

And for my sister who keeps saying I have a pudge. Working out will come somewhere in between goal 6 and 7. HA!

XOXO!

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."

It's the most wonderful time of the year! Christmas is one of my personal favorite holidays because of the Christmas traditions my family upholds generation after generation. After talking to a few of my friends at college, I realized that a lot of them don't really have "Christmas traditions" in their family, and I want to help change that. Here's a list of Christmas traditions that my family does, and anyone can incorporate into their family as well!

It’s here; that time of year when college students turn into preschoolers again. We cry for our mothers, eat everything in sight, and whine when we don’t get our way. It’s finals, the dreaded time of the semester when we all realize we should have been paying attention in class instead of literally doing anything else but that. Everyone has to take them, and yes, unfortunately, they are inevitable. But just because they are here and inevitable does not mean they’re peaches and cream and full of rainbows. Surviving them is a must, and the following five phases are a reality for all majors from business to art, nursing to history.
