5 reasons why lakeside is so much better than stateside.

Reason 1: Um, because being at the beach every day is the best!

It's summer time! Who doesn't want to spend time at the beach? Be able to stick your toes in the sand while sipping on your fruity beverage people-watching, talking with your best friend sitting next to you, or flipping through the latest edition of your favorite magazine or reading a book. You could make it a day trip with all your closest friends, or it can become a weekend trip with a group of 20 people.

Reason 2: Water is a must when it is 100 degrees out!

Yeah, you could always use your local pool, but who doesn't want this scenery?

I mean, you could just enjoy the view of kids running around all over the place, feet wet against the pavement, or you can enjoy the view of sand, rocks and water. I mean, you don't need to be near the water. You could be out walking around, driving to another location, but sometimes the water is worth it.

Reason 3: Why not boating?

Sitting on a boat feeling the breeze in your hair as your speeding along the lake enjoying the fresh water. You could be laying out on the boat as you get your tan and soak up the sun, or you could be living on the edge and enjoy tubing and build your strength as the driver spins you around in circles to sit there and flip you off.

Reason 4: Wildlife

Some people might totally be into the wildlife, and some people might not be into it, so this one is totally your opinion. Some people might be into the ducks walking by them quacking with their ducklings as you are laying out on the beach enjoying a picnic with your family. Or you could be lounging in your lounger on the lake watching the swans swim by or feel the small fish brush under you.

Reason 5: Just because you are on the lakeside does not mean there is only the lake.

You have so many places to go that have so much to do near the lakes. You could be camping, kayaking, tubing down a river that runs into your major lake, or traveling to other parts of the state to experience what lakeside summer living is really like. Lighthouses, beach piers, yachts, fishing and laying out in the sun. There are so many options around that allow you to enjoy lakeside living during the summer.

Not everyone might agree with these reasons for lakeside living, but why not try something new? Go new places and see new sceneries besides your TV, computer, Facebook or Pokemon Go. Yeah, there might be some Pokemon around in the woods or beaches, but go out and feel the sand between your toes. Maybe take a ferry to the local island near you to explore what sceneries you can explore. Enjoy your summer soaking up the sun and water, and not just spending it inside.

In case you're unaware, "resting bitch face" is the term used to describe when a person's natural, expressionless face makes it look like they are mad at the world. Whether they are walking down the street or simply spacing out thinking about what to eat for dinner, it's very easy for others to assume that this person is either upset or mad at them. Because of this, those of us with Resting Bitch Face (RBF), and especially us women, have all experienced many of the same situations and conversations, including:

We've all had a crush before. Whether it leads to something or nothing, the process has all been the same. The awkward feelings, the stalking, and the stress of trying to keep this huge secret. The feeling of becoming a total spazz is something that cannot be avoided, and the most spazzy family that can relate to this feeling is the Belcher's.

At the tender age of 18, we are bestowed with the title of “adult.” For 17 years, we live under the rules and guidelines of our parents, school, and government, and to stray from any of those rules or guidelines marks us as a rebel. At 18, though, we must choose which college we want to go to or what career we want. We are allowed and encouraged to vote. We can buy lottery tickets and cigarettes. We can drop out of school, leave our household, and do other "adult" things. At 18, we start down a path of thinking for ourselves, when for the entirety of our lives other institutions have been mandated to think and do for us.

What about those of us who don't do it all in four years?

"College will be the best four years of your life" is a phrase that we have all heard growing up. College is painted as a magical place to us while we are in high school. A place you go to learn, meet your best friends and probably have the time of your life while all of this is going down. Four whirlwind years, where everything that you've known changes and you start to learn what it means to live on your own, have a job, etc. But what about those of us who don't do this all in four years? Major changes, hard courses, switching schools, career paths changing, these are just a handful of factors that could extend your four years to five, six or seven. There is nothing wrong with taking extra time to graduate, but returning as a fifth-year is a little different. Most of your best friends have most likely graduated and moved and while you may be one of the oldest undergraduates on campus, you might feel as awkward as a freshmen. A world that became home and comfortable to you is still there but it's slightly different than you've known it to be and you have to find a groove to fall into. These are thoughts you'll have as you look ahead to returning to your college campus, with a victory lap planned.
