As we get older, the idea of summer becomes less exciting once we have more responsibilities to take care of. Although it's a part of life to have a job to support yourself, it often sucks feeling like summer is slipping away right in front of you.
Each year we go through nine months of school which can be super hard on us mentally, physically and emotionally. These breaks are supposed to be a breather for us, but how can we breathe when we have to work jobs to support us in order to get through college. When we were young, summer was the absolute best times of our lives.
Everything felt seem so simpler back then. But that's a part of us growing up.
It is satisfying to get a fat paycheck at the end of the week, but it's also terrifying how fast you can spend all of it. You need it for the necessities, not so much the things you want...unless you are fortunate enough. Maybe you need to save it for that one trip you plan on taking this summer, or maybe you just want to save it for school so you can take care of the funds ahead of time. Either way, it's summer and you are stressed about money rather than chilling at the pool with nothing to worry about.
Summer tends to go by faster when you are busy with things to do. Somehow having a job makes you realize that the days really do tend to go by faster than it would if you were out doing what you actually wanted to do.
However, in the end, you will feel thankful to have the job that you have so that you do have a little more money to spend on the side. It can suck during the summer, but it will all pay off in the end.
