We all know they exist. Some of us hate them, some of us are their biggest fan and some simply don’t care.
Truth is summer classes are here to stay and we all should learn how to appreciate them a little more. Still, that does not mean it is an easy thing to do. At the end of the day, we all want to spend our summer days laying somewhere on a beach, surrounded by friends, laughs, and bonfires every day. But, as college students — who want to graduate as soon as possible — our reality is different.
In honor of the summer semester starting soon, I created a list explaining why having classes during the summer may seem like the worst thing ever but is actually worth giving a try.
1. Parking is the easiest thing ever
If you attend a large campus, you know the struggle of parking. I have good news! Summer classes are your chance to relax! Arrive on campus five minutes before the beginning of your class and you’ll still find parking. #BestFeelingEver am I right?
2. Professors are more relaxed
They’d probably rather be laying somewhere on a beach too, so it's understandable that during class they don’t put as much pressure on you as they would during a Spring or Fall semester.
This is one of the reasons I always advise people to take tough classes during the summer, assignments are shorter and exams are easier. Go for it!
3. You get to actually meet people
Summer classes tend to be smaller, so you get to interact more with your classmates. It's an amazing opportunity to make some new friends. Who knows? Maybe one of your classmates can help you find an interview in the future. It's never to soon to start making connections!
4. Fewer classes
Yes, you get a little stressed because there's always something due the next day, but the stress doesn’t last long! This semester is the shortest one, you get to take a class in one or two months and once you're done... It's summertime!
5. You don’t have to study as much
Not because you get fewer assignments — you don’t — but because the semester is so short you don’t get to forget the material.
