Taking Summer Classes Doesn't Mean You Can't Have A Fun Summer

Summer classes are terrible when all you want to do is relax, but that doesn't mean you can't do both.

So the spring semester is finally over. It's time for fun under the Florida sun, warm waters, refreshing drinks, taking some road trips, and enjoying a fantastic break - one in which you can finally recuperate from the hell your spring semester was.

That was exactly what I needed after my spring semester, which was the worst school semester I have ever had in the entirety of my existence. I needed a vacation, but I got one week off, which was not enough and just as hectic. I have more classes, which started on the 14th. Although I got the class I had been hoping for last minute, I am exhausted. I want a vacation, but I have class.

I have been thinking about this for a while.

I am going to try and find a way that I can enjoy my summer but still stay on top of my classes.

I don't want to fall behind in my classes, so my priority is going to be school. However, we need to understand that we also deserve some downtime.

It's important to do all of your homework so you don't have to worry about what you have to do when you're relaxing. Although this is a good thing to do every semester, this is much more important during the summer semester. This way I can relax the rest of the time.

Make plans with your friends that get you out of the house. This way, you don't get stuck inside your room all summer. Because if that's the case, you'll get cabin fever super quick. Find a way to ensure that you are doing something fun that you enjoy at least once a week.

Eat out with your friends you haven't seen in forever. Find cheap places to hang out. UCF has some really cool places - the koi pond and garden is a great place to have a picnic. Wander around the mall. Even better: Go into Forever 21 and dare your friends to try on the most outrageous clothes you can find. Take some funny pictures. It makes for a great laugh.

Head over to Tampa for a day trip. It's an hour and change from Orlando and makes you go on an adventure exploring the city. Head to Disney Springs and build a lego look-a-like in the store. You get to go to Disney without paying their crazy ticket prices; all you have to pay for is gas, but if you go with friends, you can split it with them!

Make sure you have a semi-regular schedule. This makes it so much easier to relax when you know you have taken care of everything else. Also having a set time to do chores and homework makes it so much easier to actually get things done. Also, clean your room often. Take everything off the floor, vacuum, clean all the surfaces, and enjoy having a clean room. This makes your room feel so much bigger, but also it helps keep bugs from coming in and pretending they pay rent.

Get a calendar and mark up all the due dates and events you want to go to. While this works for other semesters, too, this is extremely important during Summer break so you can plan ahead to go to the things you want.

Remember: You have every right to enjoy summer. In fact, you deserve it. But that doesn't mean its time to slack off. Just remember to carefully allocate time for everything.

girl with a hat

This is for the girls who have dealt with an emotionally, mentally, physically or verbally abusive father.

The ones who have grown up with a false lens of what love is and how relationships should be. The ones who have cried themselves to sleep wondering why he hurts you and your family so much. This is for all the girls who fall in love with broken boys that carry baggage bigger than their own, thinking it's their job to heal them because you watched your mother do the same.

Blair Waldorf Quote
"DESTINY IS FOR LOSERS. IT'S JUST A STUPID EXCUSE TO WAIT FOR THINGS TO HAPPEN INSTEAD OF MAKING THEM HAPPEN." - BLAIR WALDORF.

The world stopped in 2012 when our beloved show "Gossip Girl" ended. For six straight years, we would all tune in every Monday at 9:00 p.m. to see Upper Eastside royalty in the form of a Burberry headband clad Blair Waldorf. Blair was the big sister that we all loved to hate. How could we ever forget the epic showdowns between her and her frenemy Serena Van Der Woodsen? Or the time she banished Georgina Sparks to a Christian summer camp? How about that time when she and her girls took down Bart Bass? Blair is life. She's taught us how to dress, how to be ambitious, and most importantly, how to throw the perfect shade.

too tired to care

We've all been there. From move-in day to the first finals week in college, your first term is an adventure from start to finish. In honor of college decisions coming out recently, I want to recap some of the most common experiences college freshmen experience.

1. The awkward hellos on move-in day.

You're moving your stuff onto your floor, and you will encounter people you don't know yet in the hallway. They live on your floor, so you'll awkwardly smile and maybe introduce yourself. As you walk away, you will wonder if they will ever speak to you again, but don't worry, there's a good chance that you will make some great friends on your floor!

Recently I completed my freshman year of college, and boy, what an experience. It was a completely new learning environment and I can't believe how much I learned. In an effort to save time, here are the ten biggest lessons I learned from my first year of college.

1. Everyone is in the same boat

For me, the scariest part of starting school was that I was alone, that I wouldn't be able to make any friends and that I would stick out. Despite being told time and time again that everyone had these same feelings, it didn't really click until the first day when I saw all the other freshman looking as uneasy and uncomfortable as me. Therefore, I cannot stress this enough, everyone is feeling as nervous as you.
