20 Ways To Have An Absolute BLAST This Summer

Summer is the perfect time for new beginnings, memories, and adventures. There are only so many days in summer and there are so many incredibly fun things to do. Here is a small list of 20 things that should be on your summer to do list.

1. Take a road trip without a destination

Gather up your group of friends and hit the road. Jam to some music, eat all the snacks, and make unforgettable memories.

2. Volunteer

Give some of yourself to others. There are millions of different ways that you can help out.

3. Go to a concert and jam out

There is truly no better feeling than singing your favorite songs with thousands of strangers at a concert.

4. Go to the lake/ocean/beach/puddle/other bodies of water

Enjoy the sun while relaxing at the beach or in water. Go tubing, surfing, boating, paddle boarding, or skiing. There is really nothing like falling off a tube going over crazy waves. You could also go jump in some rain puddles, not the same effect as the lake, beach, or ocean, but you might still have some fun.

5. Eat all the ice cream, popsicles, and watermelon

Beat the heat with a nice summer treat. Eat a whole watermelon, find the best ice cream in the city, and cool down with an icy popsicle.

6. Go old school and go to a drive-in movie

Pick a movie that's coming out and get the gang together to go watch a movie under the stars.

7. Work

Make some money. You can't do all of these amazing things for free. Prepare for the future. Summer is the time to enjoy the beautiful weather, but also the time to make money and save.

8. Learn to cook

Try something new. Try different recipes, open yourself up to new foods, and be creative.

9. Stargaze

Lay out under the stars and just enjoy the night sky.

10. Relax, relax, relax

Take some time for yourself. Your mental health is important and summer is perfect to take time for yourself and do some of the things that you love. Plant a garden, read some new books, and pursue your hobbies.

11. Travel far and wide

Go find an adventure. Find new places in the world and go explore them. The world is so big, don't spend all your time in just one place.

12. Watch the sunset and sunrise

Get up early and go catch the sunrise. Listen to some soothing music and it will be the perfect way to start the day. End the day by listening to some more soothing music while watching the sky change colors.

13. Go for a bike ride

Bring the kid out in you and go for a nice joy ride around the town. Feel the summer breeze and find the best ice cream.

14. Water balloon fight

Gather up some friends and go to water balloon war.

15. Have a bonfire

Start a fire and make some s'mores. Get your friends all together and share stories, memories, and adventures.

16. Go to a carnival/fair

Fly around on some rides, eat all the fair food, and make incredible memories.

17. Buy some flowers

Summer is the perfect time to spring up your life with some color. Plant some flowers and brighten up your house or your yard.

18. Have a movie night

Find all of your favorite movies and have a movie marathon with some popcorn.

19. Go fishing

It's time to get outside and get back to nature. Go catch some fish for the fish fry that you and your friends and family will have later.

20. Find what makes you happy

Do the things that make you really happy. Now is the time to take time for yourself and figure out what you want.

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate
Mental Floss

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."
