Don't get me wrong, summer birthdays are awesome! I love having a birthday where you can have outdoor parties at a pool, a local park or an amusement destination. It's also nice knowing you don't ever have to go to school on your birthday, assuming your school isn't on year-round schedule and that you don't have a five-week summer. Because then it's less likely you won't have school on your birthday! But that's beside the point. Summer birthdays are great, but there are some inherent difficulties that make them not always the best.
1. Heat advisories
Oh, so you planned to have an outdoor party? Sorry, it's too hot and no one should be outside doing anything. Now you have to figure something else to do for your party, and you probably won't have too much time to redo your plans in time.
2. Severe thunderstorms
Again? You planned an outdoor party? Sorry, the sirens have gone off at least three times in the past 15 minutes. No one should be outside, and everyone should be in a basement to avoid being hit by broken windows. Just hope there's a building nearby where all your invited guests and you could go into and maybe still continue your party.
3. Vacations
It's summer. Summer is when many families go on vacations, which means that your friends you want at your party might not be in town when you are having it.
4. Teachers forgetting to celebrate.
People with summer birthdays rarely get their birthday celebrated at school, mostly because they don't have school on or near their birthday. Most teachers will say, "Oh, we won't forget to celebrate it. We'll just celebrate it with the August birthdays." And that is if you're lucky! Sometimes they say they will celebrate summer birthdays before break, but by that point they have usually forgotten.
