fireflies flicker reflect in the depths of your brown eyes
Relishing the cool sweet breeze I hold your hand
seeing the curl of your lips, your arm wrapping around my shoulders
I smile
Near the flash of the ceremonial tiki torch
we celebrate being able to watch the day die out
The trees dark and foreboding shadows in the distant shores of night
That doesn’t bother anyone as we begin to drink in with
Dark eyes flicker and dance,
The fireflies flit and flash in dusk’s escaping light
Summer nights melt and float their way
Its becoming harder to compose
An simple farewell
As the day drifts to a close.
Although it races faster, we choose not to meet it
Cuddling into one another as we watch the colors seeping
leaning my head onto your shoulder
there's no where else I would want to be on a midsummer's night
