Don't Give Up Now, Summer Is Just Around The Corner

Whether this is your first or last spring semester of college, around this time of the year it's a fact that everyone has lost their motivation to finish the semester out as strong as they started it. It makes sense. As you're trying to study in the library while the weather is beautiful can have your mind wandering to the time you'll spend tanning in just a few weeks.

Don't let it get to you too much!

This isn't the time to give up and just look forward to summer! These last six weeks are the time for you to go even harder in your classes than you thought you could when you were first handed your syllabus. Take those distracting thoughts that summer is only six weeks away and turn that into motivation for only having to push through for a little stretch of time.

The promise of summer so close can be distracting, but you don't want to ruin all the hard work you've put in for the other weeks of the spring semester. These last six weeks of school always have the most important projects, papers, and tests due. Slacking off now could mean dropping you a letter grade that you could've easily received. Don't let summer suck you in just yet!

The long hours of studying compared to the thought of all the potential fun you could be having can be hard to overcome, but the time is going to pass regardless of if you work hard and do well in class or if you spend every day for the rest of the semester at the pool.

Wouldn't you rather be proud of the time that passed until summer?

You can do it! Six more weeks until freedom.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.

For many undergraduates across the nation, the home stretch has begun. Only one more semester remains in our undergraduate career. Oh, the places we will go! For the majority of college seniors, this is simultaneously the best and worst year out of the past four and here’s why.

1. The classes you are taking are actually difficult.

A schedule full of easy pottery throwing and film courses is merely a myth on the average campus. With all of those prerequisites for the upper-level courses and the never-ending battle you fight each year during registration for limited class seats, senior year brings with it the ability to register for the final courses you need to fulfill your major. Yet, these are not the easy entry level courses. These are the comprehensive, end of major, capstone courses designed to apply the knowledge from all your previous courses, usually in the form of an extensive research paper or engaged learning project. The upside is you actually probably really enjoy these classes but alas there is no room for slackers here.
