The lessons learned from the transition of being a carefree
student to a working adult usually occur during the summer when students work to
save money or intern to gain experience. It can be challenging, and even the
best students can fall victim to struggling with the difficulties of
transitioning to adulthood. I spent my summer working 40+ hours a week, testing
out my skills as as a working contributor of society. No matter the struggle
and hardships I faced this summer, I believe the beloved Schmidt from “New Girl”
can best describe my challenges of adulting like this:
2. Spend a week bragging about myself.
3. Realize I’m broke and still need a paying job.
4. Score that job.
5. Try to make friends at both of my new jobs.
6. Try my best to balance working two jobs and maintaining
a social life.
7. Constantly turn down plans because I’m trying to
adult.
8. Hide my struggle when people ask how my Summer is
going.
9. But then complain about my busy life to get
sympathy.
10. Fall in love with any amount of sleep I can get.
11. And spend any other spare time on social media seeing my friends have fun.
12. Finally get a night off and make plans.
13. Just to have my fun end quickly because I have to work the next morning.
14. Reflect on my Summer being an adult and realize
I still have work to do.
15. But in the end celebrate all the money I made…
...and people I met along the way.
