Top 5 Anticipated Summer 2017 Movies

I love movies and these are the ones I'm most excited about seeing!

Top 5 Anticipated Summer 2017 Movies
Warner Bros. Pictures

I hardly ever watch television. This is only because I grew up without cable and any kind of ‘real’ television. But I did watch movies I’ve grown up with movies for as long as I can remember. With movies like Beauty and the Beast dropping this year, I can tell it’s going to be an amazing year for movies. The thing is, since I’m in school, I can’t go to the movie theater as often as I would like to. Not only because I don’t have the time, they are so expensive for a college students who are living on either minimum wage jobs, or no job at all.

But summer is just around the corner. I’m going to see all the movies I possibly can before school starts. I remember going to the movie theater with my father when I was younger to see movies, and they were always my favorite experience.

There are so many exciting movies coming out. I’m a nerd kid at heart, so of course, the ones that I’m the most excited for are all of the superhero, action/adventure movies. These are the top five movies I’m the most excited for.

5. Wonder Woman starring Gal Gadot and Chris Pine

I don’t consider myself a fan of DC comics at all. In fact, I grew up with Spiderman so I’ve been a Marvel fan all my life. The reason that I am so excited for this movie, and why my hopes are so high, is because this is the first superhero movie that’s going to feature a female superhero. I am so excited for this. Sure there are female superheroes in the Marvel universe but they are almost always side-characters. I am eager to see if DC is going to do Wonder Woman justice.

4. Everything, Everything starring Amandla Stenberg and Nick Robinson (based on the novel by Nicola Yoon)

Maddy has never been outside. She is allergic to literally everything. If she goes outside, she’ll more than likely die. I read the book that this is based off of last summer and flew through it. Nicola Yoon’s writing flows well and is engaging. I loved reading this story and I can’t wait to see it on the big screen!

3. Guardians of the Galaxy 2 starring Chris Pratt

I absolutely cannot wait for this movie. I loved the first movie so much. It was everything I wanted in a science fiction ensemble movie. It had humor, action, and it was science fiction, which is absolutely one of my favorite genres.

2. Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales starring Johnny Depp

I was never a huge fan of the Pirates movies. Johnny Depp is an actor that I just think is kind of overdone. When I was younger the first one scared the crap out of me. I don’t think I watched another one of these movies until the one about mermaids came out and I really enjoyed that one, but haven’t seen any since. This one actually looks like it might have a coherent plot, and could give us some backstory on Jack Sparrow that we never got before. Overall, I’m really looking forward to this one, even though I never was a huge fan of the original films.

1. Spider-Man: Homecoming starring Tom Holland

Like I said before, I grew up with Spider-Man. I would read comics that my dad left around the house (even though, admittedly, I had a hard time following the plots). But I’ve loved the movies that starred Andrew Garfield, and I really loved Tom Holland as Spider-Man in Captain America: Civil War. I’m hoping for good things with this movie. It is definitely my most anticipated movie of the year.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.
