The Color Run

Runners in this all-inclusive 5k are bombarded with natural paints for each kilometer they trek around Los Angeles. Definitely bring a white T-shirt and don't be afraid to go all-out at the LA Color Run!

Cinespia Cemetery Screenings

It wouldn't be summer in LA without the Hollywood Forever Cemetery, folding chairs, snacks, and (of course) booze. Enjoying an array of cult classics, movie-lovers unite for this ultimately creepy experience.

Lightning in a Bottle

Take a drive up to the Central Coast for this summer event. Lightning in a Bottle is a sustainable, vegetarian festival that not only features music and food but also highlights yoga and overall wellness!

MAINopoly (A Taste of Main Street)

Main Street in Santa Monica, from Pier Avenue to Bay Street, will transform into a completely interactive Monopoly board. Exchange "MAINopoly dollars" for various food tastings throughout Main Street. An added game bonus for those of us who end up in the event's "Go to Jail" VIP lounge/beer garden!

Friday Night Wine Tastings

Barnsdall Park's wine tasting is a summer must for LA locals. Barnsdall Fridays presents a variety of fine wine selections provided by Silver Lake Wine. Bring some blankets and enjoy the many food trucks parked atop Olive Hill in the west lawn of the historic Hollyhock House.

Time Out LA's Donut Party

Skyspace LA Opening

Fourth of July Block Party

I remember my freshman year oh so well. I remember feeling terrified the night before orientation. The one thing that I dreaded the most was not the new people, the new environment, or even the academic pressure. I was dreading having to talk to sorority girls about Recruitment. I remember cutting off and avoiding any Rho Gamma/Panhellenic Officer that came my way during First Week. I looked at them like they had asked me to cut my arm off whenever they asked me if I wanted to rush. To be honest, I did not even know what rush was, but I knew that I did NOT want to be a part of it. To me, it was dumb. It was a waste of money. It was a waste of my time.

And guess what? I did not rush my freshman year. I spent the first half of my freshman year isolating myself from everyone on campus. I spent all of my time in the library, and then (since I was a commuter) went back home once my work was finished.
