Originally, I wasn't going to write this because I know this will definitely cause a lot of opinions. But then I realized, I can voice my opinion and not care what people will think or say.

So, as everyone knows, because of the internet and social media, "13 Reasons Why" is one of the biggest topics of conversation. I watched the show and I was in shock at how real they made it. But not in a bad way. I'm relieved that someone has finally made a show that shows mental illness and talks about suicide and does not sugar coat it. I was impressed with the actors and the way the show was made and how they were able to expose the terrifying dangers of suicide. I am thankful for the people who made this show.

What I am not thankful for, are the memes that have now surfaced from this show. I understand that when it comes to the internet, if something is out in social media or the internet, it could be made into a joke or a funny meme. But I thought that for once, the internet wouldn't do that to "13 Reasons." I was proved wrong.

This was the first meme that I saw on Twitter and Facebook, maybe about a week or less after "13 Reasons" was released on Netflix. I don't find this at all funny. I find this extremely insulting. You don't get to decide if someone's reasons for suicide is ridiculous or not. Depression is a dangerous and tricky beast. Anything can upset you. And if you constantly feel like the world is trying to bring you down and bad things keep happening to you, like Hannah Baker, it can lead you down a dangerous path. Kids commit suicide from bullying every year. Are you going to say that their reason is stupid and that they could've had a better solution? Hannah was bullied. Constantly. She had tried to put on a smile from day to day, trying to get better. Yet people kept doing hurtful things to her. What happened to her were extremely rude and cruel things. And this happens to a lot of kids in society now. So no one has a right to say if someone's reason for suicide is wrong. If you don't understand, you shouldn't say that.

This I just found today. Again, this is not funny. Why would anyone find this funny? The reasons aren't people complaining, it's them trying to explain why they got to that point.

Suicide is never something you should joke about or make memes out of. This is an extremely serious and important show. Mental illness itself is something you should not joke about. Coming from someone who has had a family member commit suicide, and have had friends who came close to wanting to commit suicide, this is extremely offensive. I'm honestly hurt and in shock that people are willing to put in the time and effort to make these memes and spread them everywhere when they are missing the complete point of this. The theories, the memes, the jokes, they need to stop. It's not what this story is about. It is about a girl who killed herself. You see into the mind of someone who is suffering, someone who is dealing with their depression, and someone who is pushed to the point of wanting to end everything.

I understand most people are probably sick of hearing and reading about "13 Reasons." But I wouldn't be writing this if there weren't any memes about it. I watched it, I understood, way more than most people may know, and that's where I left it. I encouraged people to watch it because it makes you learn and know what could be happening in someone's life and I'm writing this because I need to express that it is not okay. It's offense, it's hurtful, and it is so utterly unnecessary and completely deviates from the true message. So please, stop retweeting them, stop sharing them on Facebook, just stop spreading it on these social media platforms.

Suicide is real. Mental illness is real. It happens around you and you may not know it. You truly don't know what's going on in someone's head. It's a serious topic, and it should be kept that way. If you're feeling in any way like this, talk to someone. Find that one person you can put your trust in. Your life doesn't have to end. It's precious and worth living, and you will find the strength to keep going and find the good in the world. It exists if you look a little bit farther than what's in front of you.

Don't be afraid to reach out. Please. Someone will listen.

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…
