There are so many different experiences on campus you will undergo as a college student. Community College is slightly different than going to a dorm college. I am sure there are many more facts about Suffolk Community College, but here are some of my experiences at Suffolk Community College.

1. "Suffolk is the 13th grade"

You will hear this comment so many times before you start going to Suffolk Community College. Everyone wants to be friends and socialize as much as you. People that end up at the same college from high school who you didn't even talk to could end up being your friend in college. Some people from high school could be a completely different person in college. That is always interesting to see. People consider Suffolk as "13th grade" but it's not! They have so many different opportunities to offer. Community College is a whole new environment.

2. Trying to find parking could be a challenge in itself

Trying to find a decent parking spot at Suffolk is difficult. Some parking lots are easier than others. Once you get familiar with good parking lots it is not too bad after all. Most times you end up getting a parking spot by luck.

3. The only food at the cafe that's the best are the deli sandwiches!

Most of the food served at Suffolk is not too bad. But the deli sandwiches are the best. The deli sandwiches at Suffolk have to be the best food served there.

4. There won't be a semester that goes by where you won't have at least 10 fire drills.

You probably thought fire drills were only in high school, but here at Suffolk they are a daily activity students must do consistently. No matter rain, snow, or below freezing temperatures, there will be a fire drill.

5.) After 12:30-1:45 class ends, there will be a ton of traffic trying to leave campus.

Prepare yourself for the amount of commotion there will be after these class times let out. No matter how fast you walk to your car or what parking lot you parked in, there will always be traffic.

6.) The wifi connection is terrible.

No matter where you are on campus your wifi connection will not connect. Trying to find perfect internet connection is equivalent to trying to find a parking spot!

7.) You can get a workout just from walking around campus.

The amount of hills and stairways on campus make you feel as if you are getting a workout during your day. As a college student, it is always hard to find time for exercise. So if you really think about it, the hills and stairways could help you get in your daily activity for the day.

8.) As your walking to your car there will always be a person following you so, they can take your parking spot.

As your walking to your car, there will always be a car riding beside you and asking you if you are leaving. As a freshman, this is definitely something different from high school. As the semesters goes on, you just get to used to it.

9.) Half of the vending machines won't accept your student ID card.

There are so many vending machines in every building. When you are in a rush ,it is so convenient to get a quick snack as your going to class. Half the time you are thumbing for money in your wallet and it is easier to swipe you student ID card. But most of the time when you swipe all it says is, "error!" After trying so many times you either have to use actual money or embarrassingly walk away.

10.) When someone takes your unassigned/assigned seat in college.

The first week of the semester mostly ever one has their assigned seats figured out by then. But there will always be that one person who takes your seat 2 months into the semester. Even though in college we do not have assigned seats. After sitting in the same seat all semester it does become assigned.

11.) It is not as bad as people really say.

People say so many negative comments about Suffolk but it is not as bad as people say. College is truly what you make of it!

One of my biggest pet peeves is when someone does not try to help their self before asking others. How can someone else be expected to help you if you do not first do that yourself? I'm all about helping those that need it when the time comes, however whenever someone does not even attempt to help him or herself first then that becomes a huge problem. As we all have learned, people tend to take advantage of us in one way or another. I am sure we all read this short story when we were younger and it follows that same principle:

10 Signs You Work In A Restaurant

There's always chaos in the restaurant business.

10 Signs You Work In A Restaurant
Brisanis

Working in the restaurant industry is possibly the most fundamentally challenging occupation I have ever experienced when it comes to hospitality and customer service. When you go to a five-star restaurant you expect the time of your life, a two hour getaway, a walk through another time period (rustic Italy, France, Spain, etc), or simply a honeymoon undergo. What you don't see are the behind the scenes scut work: carrying trays, polishing glassware and silverware, kitchen chaos, the list is endless. Now, I'm not saying being a host, server, or bartender is the worst thing in the whole wide world, there are definitely worse things. But the fact of the matter is that it isn't always sunshine and rainbows. In the two years that I have spent in restaurant and customer service, I have spoken my share of expletives, yelled at kitchen staff, and dealt with not-so-happy guests. It isn't easy to keep a bright and shiny smile on your face when all you want to do is choke every person who walks near you. Anyone who has spent even two weeks working in a restaurant understands the rigor and stress that comes with it. Restaurant culture is a tiny world in and of itself that operates on its own principles and creates its own society. It even has its own language. The sayings "runner", "corner", and "on a bus" wouldn't make sense to anyone otherwise. My mother and I both work in a restaurant and the best advice I can give someone going out to eat is to treat us like people. Yes...believe it or not we are people, people. Say "please" and "thank you", or stack your cleared plates before a busser gets to the table. Trust me, the gesture goes a lot farther than you may think.

So, if you work in a restaurant, you can relate with the following points. If not, check out how the brain of a restaurant service (or any customer service) worker actually works. See if you can identify any crazy weird habits your friends have a tendency to partake in.
