It was early in the evening when I was discussing with a friend about one of a notorious conspiracy theory that rocked the One Direction Fandom around this time last year in regards to Louis Tomlinson and his newborn son, Freddie. I began to discuss my views on it and my personal opinions while my friend was completely in shock about this. She, out of curiosity went to look up further information that led her to the infamous Buzzfeed Article written a little over a year ago. As I began to read the article, it suddenly dawned on me, how everyone is suddenly quiet about the infamous conspiracy theory. It was daunting at how there was such an uproar within the One Direction fandom from all angles, even those who were more Team Zayn were suddenly having a say. It was a time of intensity and vitriol as people attacked each other on platforms such as Twitter and Tumblr based off their beliefs over the lives of their favorite idols. Yet, it was suspicious on how even the members of One Direction were suddenly stark-silent about the ordeal. Sure, they were interviewed individually or as a whole and yet, they all refuse to speak. Now whether or not you believe the theory or believe that "Larry Stylinson", is a real thing, it does spark the question: why is everyone so quiet about "Babygate"?
1. Louis' former bandmate, Liam Payne, is involved in "Babygate 2.0".
As many have heard recently, Liam Payne is the second member of One Direction to have become a father just recently with U.K. singer and former X-Factor Judge, Cheryl Cole. This has left a lot of people narrowing their eyes in suspicion and scratching their heads seeing as how Cheryl Cole was a judge the same season One Direction competed.
2. The boys have stepped up to distract us with their music.
With the three former members throwing singles and albums at us left and right all within the same time frame, it could be possible that this could all be some sort a front to get fans to look the other way. Or you know, maybe the boys just want to be successful.
3. Freddie is not Louis' baby and his family is keeping hush-hush about it until the big reveal.
This is also a point that could potentially be possible. The Tomlinson Sisters have been particularly quiet about their nephew and more focused on their youngest siblings, Ernest and Doris. Others have speculated that they all know that Freddie isn't Louis' son, but are keeping away from the media. Others have argued that the girls are simply just more focused on their fashion blogging.
4. One Direction's Management messed up with "Babygate 1.0" and decided to fuel the fire with "Babygate 2.0".
While Modest! Management has received a bad reputation for the mistreatment of their rising stars One Direction, Little Mix, and Fifth Harmony, this theory has been the one to spark some fights on twitter every now and again. However, bloggers and fandom update accounts alike have tweeted and blogged about startling similarities between Liam and Louis' fatherhood.
5. Louis made an April Fool's Joke that went too far.
It's been a little over five years, Louis. Give it a rest!
6. Former star of The Originals, Danielle Campbell, used this story to boost her career after her contract ended with The CW and producer, Julie Plec.
There's no surprise that Danielle Campbell became suddenly involved shortly after Campbell's character, Davina Claire was killed off the show and Freddie was born shortly after. Many see the correlation between her many advertisements for teas and teeth whitener while she dated Louis. Many also believe that was a former nod to his ex-girlfriend, Eleanor Calder.
At the end of the day, whatever people decide to believe and invest themselves in, it is safe to say that the One Direction fandom is known to be very tech-savvy and I, personally give them all a round of applause for having amazing investigative skills. While it is clear that One Direction are indeed overworked as artists and abused by their management, there is no telling what goes on within the confines of the band and whether or not the new additions to their families are true or not...but it doesn't hurt diving into fandom theories every now and again.
