I Suck at Being Tranparent

"Aliens do exist! Are you kidding me? You don't have a clue about life if you don't agree."

That is the craziest thing you've ever read, but if you suck at being transparent like myself, aliens are real to you. Well maybe not aliens, but whatever you feel strongly about that others just don't get.

So you just had this huge debate with your friends or family about a fairly simple topic (aliens) and you walked away ticked off and wishing they saw your way. I totally know how you feel.

You're just like me. You suck at being transparent.

Dun. Dun. Dun. You're an awful person, and you're full of yourself. Just kidding! But I I've come up with some more things we have in common and how to work on them. Let's begin, shall we?

  1. You cut people off a lot when talking. Bad habit and can be harmless for the most part, but people wanna slap you silly after a while. Solution: Talk to people more. What? I know, that's the whole issue. But unless you decide to become a mime like right at this moment, you'll have to talk to people.
  2. You literally will end a debate because you've become so worked up. Solution: Listen to other's opinions and try to find what you like or can agree with.
  3. When people don't see topics your way, you keep trying to persuade them to. Eep, you're really annoying at this point. Solution: Don't go so in depth with your opinion. Be you and be honest, but keep it simple.
  4. Politics are NOT your friend. Let's be honest, they are no one's friend. But you seriously don't get along well with them. Solution: Know that there is a time and place for politics. Bring facts, and be willing to allow yourself to be educated with other people's facts.
  5. Most people say you're too opinionated, too outspoken, or intimidating. SO annoying. Now I know some people may say those things to be cruel, but for the most part if you've heard that a lot, you need to work on it. Solution: Take constructive criticism as just that! Listen to people. Don't take it personal.

I don't think aliens exist, but I do think transparency is very important in today's world. There are billions of us on this planet, and none of us are alike. Therefore, we will not see eye to eye on every single topic.

So, to my opinionated peeps let's stay true to our opinions when sharing them, but do it in a less belittling way. Let's keep our friends and families. We don't want to not invited to the next gathering because we can't keep our big mouth shut.

P.S You're not an awful person, but getting your point across in an attacking way isn't cool.

It is that time of year again. Christmastime. It is one of my favorite seasons for a myriad of reasons. Here are just a few reasons why I love Christmas. This list is in no order of importance.

1. The Christmas decorations

I am that person who will decorate directly after Thanksgiving is over. This year, my roommates and I put the tree up in our apartment before we even left for Thanksgiving break. It is a great stress reliever for me to just sit in my living room and work on the huge amount of work I have before the semester is over.

Writing a paper is never fun and is rarely rewarding. The writer's block, the page requirement, be specific, but don’t summarize, make sure you fixed any grammatical errors, did you even use spellcheck? and analyze, analyze, analyze.

Papers can be a major pain. They take up so much time and effort that by the end of the process you hate yourself and you hate the professor for making life so difficult. Questions of your existence start roaming in your mind. Am I even cut out for college if I can’t write a single paper? Am I even capable of taking care of myself if I lack the energy to open my laptop and start typing?
