No academic obligations for a month... now what?

Winter break is so refreshing after a semester of working so hard. It is a college student's time to catch up on some sleep, make some money, and take time to relax. Sometimes I feel like college kids do not know how to relax anymore, but we owe it to ourselves to do so. Here are 5 ideas to do over break to assure that it is everything we need to refresh ourselves.

1. RELAX!!

We do not get a lot of time anymore where we do not have many obligations. Take this time to catch up on some Netflix, sleep in, and do fun things!

2. Drive Around and Look At Christmas Lights

This is one of the best ways to get into the holiday spirit. Take a drive around local areas and see just how festive people are.

3. Go Ice Skating

This is a fun thing to do in the winter! I personally cannot skate to save my life, but it doesn't mean I can't try. In the end all I may be able to do is laugh at myself, but at least it was still fun.

4. Play with Your Dog in the Snow

Dogs love jumping through snow. Take the time to run in the snow with them and throw some snowballs for them to catch. Their puppy eyes will light up at the sight of a snowball!

5. Spend Time With Family

Family really makes the holidays special. Take time to catch up with loved ones and share a good meal or a nice cup of coffee. It will put such a big smile on your relatives faces, and that joy is rewarding.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.
