Stuff Happens: The Card Game
Playing Cards

As a college student, there comes a time when I can't study another word and need to take a break. When I have others around me, I normally want to hang out with them and do something fun. Watching movies can get boring after a while, and going out is too expensive for me and my low college budget. So what better way to pass time then to play a card game or two? There are games like Uno and Phase 10 that are old school favorites, but sometimes they become a bit boring and predictable after a while. Recently, I came across this game called "Stuff Happens", which is kind of like a clean spin off of Cards Against Humanity. After playing it numerous times with friends, I've realized that this game is actually pretty addicting, making individuals question their morals and how miserable situations can become.

The point of the game is to be the first to obtain ten playing cards. In order to do so, a player needs to accurately guess where the active "misery card" should be placed in their hand. So in the beginning, everyone starts out with three cards. From there, they have to place them in order from least to greatest and examine the numbers below them. After, one person from the group will draw a card from the deck and read it to everyone else without revealing the number under it (also known as the misery index). Each player will go and try and appropriately choose where it should placed, and whoever guess right first gets the card. This continues on until a player finally reaches ten. It's interesting because the more cards an individual gets, the harder it becomes to guess where it goes since the number gaps begin to shrink.

This game is absolutely hilarious, cards ranging from "drinking spoiled milk" to "waking up in North Korea". What makes it so enjoyable though is that it is not as inappropriate as Cards Against Humanity, so it's safer to play around family and close friends (without all those awkward situations). Rarely have I found myself uncomfortable by a card because they are funny enough without being suggestive or having hidden sexual innuendos.

I 100% recommend this game to those who are looking for something fun and new to play. Sometimes, a deck of cards isn't enough to distract me for a long period of time. It's refreshing to be able to have some good clean fun with close friends!

"Stuff Happens" is available at Walmart. And for those who are interested in more adult card games, they also have a spin off called "Sh*t Happens" that is targeted more towards an older audience.

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!
