When the month of May hits, many college students are free for the summer. Beach trips are planned, sleep is caught up on, and laying out by the pool becomes an everyday expectation. However, if your school doesn't get out until mid-May, I feel your pain. Here are thirteen things that I relate to as I study for finals and watch everyone have the time of their lives.
1. You physically cannot take another bite of dining hall food.
2. You’re dripping in sweat on the way to class and then the air conditioning freezes it onto your body once you get there.
3. ...or the AC completely stops working in your hundred-year-old dorm building.
4. All of your friends from high school are at the beach, and it’s all over their Snapchat stories.
5. Your friends from home have started planning pool trips in the group message, but you’ll be sitting in class hours away.
6. You’re staying up until 3 a.m. studying for finals, while your friends at home are staying up until 3 a.m. watching Netflix.
7. Because of these late night study sessions, your sleep deprivation is at an all-time high.
8. You have a sudden urge to jump into the lake or fountain every time you pass it.
9. You are forced to sit in class and watch a beautiful day pass by.
10. Athletic shorts are considered your everyday wear.
11. You haven’t opened Instagram in weeks because you know it’s just photo after photo of your friends on summer vacation.
12. You try to calculate what your grades would be if you just drove home and missed your finals.
13. On the last day of classes, your brain starts playing “What Time is It?” from “High School Musical 2” on repeat.
