With finals week quickly approaching, I can already feel the stress building up. Some people master the art of procrastination, while others have been studying since the first day of class. No matter which one, the stress of exams will hit every student full force as the time gets closer.

1. The month before exams

It's the month before exams and you haven't even looked at your notes. Heck, you may have not been to class in two weeks and when people ask you what you're learning you simply shrug and laugh. "I have a whole month before finals" you tell yourself. You spend most of your days having fun and watching netlfix.

2. Two weeks before exams

You're still not too worried. You are starting to get your ducks in a row and getting the notes from all the classes you missed. You still don't start studying, but you begin to work a little harder.

3. The week before exams

You are at the library everyday trying to learn a semesters full of work into one week. You study for about 20 minutes and then reward yourself with an hour of social media. You ask all of your classmates to help you study but they don't know what they're doing either. You start getting worried as the week goes on.

4. The night before exams

You are full on panic mode. You have been at the library for 17 hours straight and don't remember the last time you slept. You have 300 papers scattered, and 7 books open around your desk at the library. You've cried a total of 6 times and you become hopeless.

5. The day of your first exam

You slept approximately 37 minutes and have downed 8 cups of coffee before 10 a.m. You have studied so much that you feel your head is going to explode and your hand is going to fall off. You have calculated down to the dot the exact percentage you need to keep an A (or B...or just pass) and you think you know enough to get by. You pray every 10 minutes until you are given your first exam.

6. During your first exam

This is it. This is the end. Everything you studied is not on the test. You memorized that one graph like the back of your hand and there was only one question on it. You stumble across a few questions you try to remember from reading your book 3 times. You promise yourself you will never do this to yourself again. You start dreaming about potential boxes you will live in when you become a hobo after failing this one exam.

7. As your exams go on..

You start becoming a master at creating the longest possible answer for short answer questions. You figure out what the material on the exam is actually asking halfway through your exam. You start getting your life together exam by exam.

8. After your exams are over

You finally did it. You made it. Barely. You run out of the exam room faster than you have ever run before. You throw all your papers in the recycling bin before you even make it home. You are so pumped school is over and you think about all the fun summer activities you're going to have the next three months.

9. Getting grades back

When you notice you and your best friend get the same grade on the exam (good or bad). You pat yourself on the back when you realize you did better than you thought you would.

Overall, you end up passing every class and you don't have to worry about the crazy life of what could have been if you would have failed that one exam.

In case you're unaware, "resting bitch face" is the term used to describe when a person's natural, expressionless face makes it look like they are mad at the world. Whether they are walking down the street or simply spacing out thinking about what to eat for dinner, it's very easy for others to assume that this person is either upset or mad at them. Because of this, those of us with Resting Bitch Face (RBF), and especially us women, have all experienced many of the same situations and conversations, including:

We've all had a crush before. Whether it leads to something or nothing, the process has all been the same. The awkward feelings, the stalking, and the stress of trying to keep this huge secret. The feeling of becoming a total spazz is something that cannot be avoided, and the most spazzy family that can relate to this feeling is the Belcher's.

At the tender age of 18, we are bestowed with the title of “adult.” For 17 years, we live under the rules and guidelines of our parents, school, and government, and to stray from any of those rules or guidelines marks us as a rebel. At 18, though, we must choose which college we want to go to or what career we want. We are allowed and encouraged to vote. We can buy lottery tickets and cigarettes. We can drop out of school, leave our household, and do other "adult" things. At 18, we start down a path of thinking for ourselves, when for the entirety of our lives other institutions have been mandated to think and do for us.

What about those of us who don't do it all in four years?

"College will be the best four years of your life" is a phrase that we have all heard growing up. College is painted as a magical place to us while we are in high school. A place you go to learn, meet your best friends and probably have the time of your life while all of this is going down. Four whirlwind years, where everything that you've known changes and you start to learn what it means to live on your own, have a job, etc. But what about those of us who don't do this all in four years? Major changes, hard courses, switching schools, career paths changing, these are just a handful of factors that could extend your four years to five, six or seven. There is nothing wrong with taking extra time to graduate, but returning as a fifth-year is a little different. Most of your best friends have most likely graduated and moved and while you may be one of the oldest undergraduates on campus, you might feel as awkward as a freshmen. A world that became home and comfortable to you is still there but it's slightly different than you've known it to be and you have to find a groove to fall into. These are thoughts you'll have as you look ahead to returning to your college campus, with a victory lap planned.
