It's finals season, which means Bird Library will be filled to the brim at all hours. If you're stuck trying to find a comfortable place to hunker down, here are some cozy study spots that will get those productive juices flowing.

1. The quad

Spring has finally sprung! The abnormally beautiful weather in Syracuse this past week justifies the quad and other grassy spots on campus as ideal study spots. Studying in the sun also has health benefits — Vitamin D helps boost your mood and immune system.

Grab a blanket, find a tree to sit under, and enjoy the long-awaited sunshine this finals week.

2. Panasci lounge

One of the greatest hidden gems on campus is Panasci lounge, located in the upper level of the Schine Student Center. Panasci offers comfy seats, couches, and footrests, as well as a row of chairs in front of large windows that overlook the promenade.

If you get hungry, Schine dining is a short walk away.

3. Hendricks chapel

The lower level of Hendricks chapel is home to a room with ample seating and a piano. This hidden study spot is tucked away next to People's Place, a student-run nonprofit coffee shop that offers $1 cups of coffee. Hendricks is great for studying if you are looking for a quiet, cozy spot near the quad and academic buildings.

4. Newhouse bridge

A glass-enclosed walkway that connects Newhouse 1 and Newhouse 2 is home to a row of comfy swivel chairs and benches. With windows for walls, the walkway is the perfect sunny place to study and people-watch.

5. Eggers Hall

Home to the Maxwell School, Eggers offers many places to sit throughout the spacious building. An additional perk is Eggers Cafe, which is best known for its wraps and sandwiches.

No matter where you decide to study this week, it definitely helps if there's access to comfortable seating, natural lighting, food and WiFi. Good luck with finals!

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
