Some days, you feel motivated and almost (emphasis on almost) eager to study. You're ready to sit down at your desk, bust out those textbooks that you haven't opened since the first day of class and start prepping for your upcoming test. While putting in plenty of time and hard work usually gets you those good grades, why not shake things up a bit with a few (in)effective study tips?
To start things off on the wrong foot, begin your study sesh later than scheduled. Always set a reasonable time to study and about 10 minutes before this planned time, turn on a two-hour movie that you just have to finish. If movies aren’t your jam, try taking a nap and “forgetting” to set an alarm for yourself. Nothing beats waking up three hours later than intended!
Once you’ve actually decided to embark on this non-studying journey, you’ll want to make sure you’re fully prepared. Spend a few hours cleaning up your desk to create a clean study space. Prepare an intricate three-course meal for when you need a snack. Inform each and every family member, neighbor and Facebook friend (via handwritten letter, of course) that you’ll need some uninterrupted time to focus on getting your work done.
Finally, actually start studying! While this may seem overly reasonable, you can always set up some distractions for yourself. Start a wild debate in your friend's group chat to ensure that you have a continuous stream of notifications to occupy your mind. Turn off all the lights around you to make reading the text more of a challenge. The possibilities are endless! With these tips, you're bound to have a spectacularly fruitless study session.
