I think we've all been there: it's 11 at night, we're still watching Netflix, and oh wait, you also have your 15-page paper that's due in less than 24 hours.
Or maybe this isn't even you, you're just looking for some sick beats so that you can actually be productive for once in a lifetime.
In my personal opinion, the best way to get into a productive mood is through music. And not through your regular music playlists, but something that will actually get you motivated and will not distract you-- because listen we've all tried to study with Shakira music in the background, with it ending with a whole concert in your dorm room.
Below I've compiled my top 10 songs that I listen to while I'm studying that really get me in a productive mood and able to write papers and hand in resumes in record time.
1. "Iceberg" -- Børns
I'll admit, when I first heard of this song, I hated it. The beginning is kind of weird and I skipped it whenever it came up. But now? Especially once you get to the beat drop/middle of the song, it literally puts you in such a motivated mood that I can't genuinely explain.
2. "604high" -- Autumn Keys
There are no lyrics to this so you're not tempted to sing along and get distracted. It is filled with interesting beats though, that may even be eerie at times. But the overall effect is that it really gets you absorbed in your work!
3. "Exhausted" -- Chloe Moriondo
A sad song in general, that I have to admit I didn't really listen to the lyrics before this. It is overall soothing, with the combination of the slow drumming guitar and the melodic voice.
4. "cliche" -- mxmtoon
A bit of a similar vibe to the last song in terms of melodic and soft voice, but honestly takes a more upbeat, carefree feeling to it. At times I'm often singing along to some of it too-- but it overall is mellow enough to keep in the background while you're studying.
5. "at arm's length..." -- momü
I literally do not know how to describe this song and how excited I get whenever it comes on. It's so unique and something that I've never heard before on mainstream music. It's charming, but so weird at the same time but somehow so enjoyable!
6. "neon desert" -- Nohidea
What drew me into this song was actually the cover art that it had on Spotify, BUT what had me stay was the beat it had to it-- mellow enough to not distract me, but also not too soothing where I wanted to go to sleep.
7. "Ulitmately" -- khai dreams
The general trend with these songs is that they're all very mellow and if there is a singer-- very soft and melodious. This song includes this as well as ukulele beats and overall very sweet.
8. "Lilac Lagoon" -- Louie Zong
Another possible weird song when you initially listen to it you'll probably be a bit put off. But the more you listen to it, the catchier it becomes and wishing that it wasn't just a minute long song. Although his SoundCloud doesn't feature this particular song, he has other Lofi feel songs that will also get you in the study mood.
9. "Another One Bites The Dust" -- Queen
This almost works as my little break between all the other soft songs on this playlist. Even though you probably end up humming/singing along, you still don't break the productive rhythm that you had going on, I think it probably enhances it a bit more. And honestly, who doesn't like Queen?
10. "Airplane Mode" -- Limbo
Like alot of the other songs-- it's a weird mixture of catchy, eerie, upbeat and kind of monotonous. All of these descriptions meant in the best way! Another short song, less than 3 minutes, but also another song that you end up humming along with.
