About every Tuesday and Thursday I'm hit by the blues walking home from my morning psychology class. Those ten minutes of walking past the beautiful trees and the quite sleepy campus send into flashbacks of another time a more beautiful time. In those quiet moments, I think back to Alicante. My beautiful city Alicante, Spain. I spent a whirlwind six weeks immersed in the Spanish culture.
(Segovia, Spain)
Study abroad left its mark on me and I can say I am not the same girl that left the Columbus airport. Before my study abroad experience I had never been across "the big pond." I never knew about the beauty and majesty of other lands.
(Alicante, Spain)
Well now I know, and now I definitely have study abroad withdrawl. I miss the amazing things I did. I miss the amazing places I went. And most of all I miss the amazing people I met. What's sort of sad is that we meet all these amazing people from all over the world, and our time together is so short. Six weeks never went by so fast as the time studying abroad.
(Alicante Beach)
The people I met will never be forgotten. In a span of six weeks you get so close to people that you may never see again (hopefully you do). I shared so many adventures with people that made my personal experience so much better.
(Gibraltar, Spain)
The people you meet studying abroad become your travel companions and even friends for life. Study abroad opens your eyes to new worlds. Study abroad can make you miss things you've never even experienced. (I've never been to Paris but something inside of me misses the champagne and the romance of the city of love.)
Not everything after study abroad is all doom and gloom, once you get passed the shock of coming home you realize that study abroad has changed your outlook on life for the better. Study abroad broadens your mind and your cultural sense. Not a day goes by that I don't thank my lucky stars for the opportunity to study abroad.
