The semester is finally over, and it's lit.

Your wallet after buying all those Christmas presents? Not so lit.

Luckily, I am here to help you tackle that monster with freebies and discounts so that you can get more done without the stress, and so that you can save a little $$$ in the process. Here are a few things that are college student exclusive, all you need is a university email (an email ending in .edu).

Spotify Student Discount

Did you know you can get Spotify streaming for 1/2 off when you sign up with a student email? Well you can! All that music can help you study during long nights. This link will have you on your way!

Free Microsoft Office for Students!

This is a big help to anyone who is ever going to have to write a paper or give a presentation… which is everyone. With a valid student email, you can get Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook for absolutely nothing at all! Bonus, it works for both PC and MAC! (Because let’s face it, Pages is kind of weird). You can sign up here!

UNiDAYS

“Stressed, but well dressed.” I feel like this is how a lot of students are during the year -- I know fashion students at Woodbury University are. But you don’t have to break the bank to look good! UNiDAYS is a site created specifically for students that compiles tons of stores and online merchants to offer special student discounts on clothes, shoes, and accessories, like Claire’s, Jack Wills, and Urban Outfitters.

ASOS --10% Off

British online retailer ASOS teamed up with UNiDAYS to offer a 10% student discount when you sign up that lasts the entire academic year -- so you can use it each time you need retail therapy! You can sign up for that on the ASOS website.

6 Months of Amazon Prime

If you have a student email, you are eligible to receive 6 months of Amazon Prime for no charge at all! Prime offers free 2-day shipping and access to their entire library of streaming items, like music, movies, and books! And after the 6 month trial, you’re able to continue your Prime usage for a rate that is half off regular price!

The Movies

AMC Theaters nationwide give discounts to students on Tuesdays. All you need is a valid student ID!

Transportation

Greyhound and Metro services offer 20% off transportation to students. Most local transit systems offer a discounted student bus pass, which gives you unlimited use of the systems as long as the pass is valid, and that really helps when you don’t have a car.

Car Insurance

If you do drive, full-time students under 25 can save up to 20% if they have good grades with Allstate. Good students under 25 can be eligible for a 15% discount if they have Geico, and students with State Farm can get up to a 25% discount for good academics. Its a pretty smart way to get around.

Apple Products

I use a Macbook, so I was excited to know that Apple offers a $200 Apple Store gift card when you purchase a Mac or Macbook for back to school. $200 goes a long way!

So there you have it! Just a few of the many discounts you can get with that flashy new college ID of yours. Also a tip: If you use it when eating out, most fast food joints may offer a free drink or a small discount on your food! Try it! Happy Shopping.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
