Student Discounts for the Broke College Student

Almost every college student knows what it is like to be broke. But being broke doesn't mean that we won't want to go places and do things. Here are a few student discounts and discount days to help with that.

1. Movie Theaters

Some movie theaters offer $1 or $5 movie days. Movies 10 in Canton, Ohio has $1 movie Wednesdays and Atlas theaters in Mentor, Ohio have $5 movie Mondays. Most movie theaters also offer student tickets when you show a valid student ID.

2. Bowling Alleys

Bowling alleys generally offer different theme days and discount days. Scores bowling alley in Painesville, Ohio offers dollar bowing day on Wednesdays. Go to your local bowling alley and ask about discount days or theme days. Some bowling alleys do midnight bowling where you pay one price for the whole night.

3.Spotify or Apple Music

Both Spotify and Apple Music give students about a 50% discount on premium plans with a valid student email. I personally have Spotify Premium for $4.99 a month and I love it.

4. Amazon

Amazon offers a student account which is $49.99 yearly. When you spend hundreds of dollars on textbooks twice a year shipping can get a little outrageous but with Amazon Student you get free 2-day shipping where applicable.

5. Chipotle

Most Chipotle's offer a free drink when you present a valid student id. I love chipotle and the one near me sometimes does BOGO for college students which is always nice. Also, sign up for texts and emails, they send out offers like the first game of the World Series they sent one "Wear Indians gear and get BOGO".

6. Apple

Apple offers discounts to educators, students, and parent buying on behalf of their students. If you go to this website you can enter your school or zip code and find special discounts for your school.

7. Microsoft Office

Microsoft offers free Office 365 for students at qualifying school. If you go to their website here you can enter your email and get the free download. You can also go here and see all the discounts that they offer for students.

8. Museums

Most museums offer a student discount of some sort. The amount differs based on where you go but it can't hurt to ask. Every discount counts.

9. Flights and travel plans

There are a few different websites that offer some student flights discounts. All you have to do is go on google and search it. You never know what you will find until you try.

10. Tons of other places...

Here are a few more websites that list out student discounts:

It can never hurt to ask for a discount. Especially when you are a broke college student. These discounts may not apply for everyone but it's always worth it to try.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.

Thanksgiving break is over and Christmas is just around the corner and that means, for most college students, one hellish thing — finals week. It's the one time of year in which the library becomes over populated and mental breakdowns are most frequent. There is no way to avoid it or a cure for the pain that it brings. All we can do is hunker down with our books, order some Dominos, and pray that it will all be over soon. Luckily, we are not alone in this suffering. To prove it, here are just a few of the many deranged thoughts that go through a college student's mind during finals week.

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.
